TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The mayor of a Prague district on Monday (Aug. 31) fired off an angry letter in response to a threat by a Chinese "wolf warrior diplomat" that Czech Senate speaker Milos Vystrcil would "pay a heavy price" for his ongoing visit to Taiwan.

On Sunday, Vystrcil, along with his 89-member delegation, began a five-day tour of Taiwan, making him the highest-level Czech official to ever visit the country. On Monday, China's foreign ministry cited State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi (王毅) as saying “The Chinese government and Chinese people won’t take a laissez-faire attitude or sit idly by, and will make him (Vystrcil) pay a heavy price for his short-sighted behaviour and political opportunism."

That same day, the Mayor of Prague district Reporyje, Pavel Novotny, on his Facebook page posted a photo of a scathing letter he addressed directly to Wang in response to his threat. In the subject line of the letter, Novotny demands an immediate apology for Wang's threats made against his country.

In the letter, Novotny condemns Wang for having "crossed the lines" of diplomatic norms. He then chastised the foreign ministry for threatening the Czech senate speaker in such a way and behaving like "unmannered rude clowns."

He then demanded that China apologize for the threat "right now" with a formal apology delivered within 24 hours to the Czech foreign minister, who Novotny claimed agrees with him. However, he lamented that the minister dare not express this sentiment publicly due to a pact between the "not very sane" Czech President Milos Zeman and his "co-conspirator" Prime Minister Andrej Babis and communist China.

Novotny said that Wang should be "ashamed" of his threat and he called on China's top diplomat to acknowledge his mistake or face a "heavy price for bullying." Taking a jab at China's notorious dept-trap diplomacy, the Reporyje mayor then said that his side's reaction would be the same even if the communist autocracy invested "14x more than our friends from Taiwan."

He called on Wang to "wake up" and swore that he "will not s*** on us." Novotny closed by demanding a copy via email so that he can keep his "diplomatic f*** up" in his archives and warned him not to "p*** him off."

I deal with these types quite often. They only behave this way because they think you won't actually do anything. The way to change their behavior is to inflict so much pain that they won't forget the lesson.

Yeah like with Huawei

It failed with Huawei. Huawei has not only not changed their corporate policies, they've made even more profit this year.

I've been saying for a while the Chinese on here are a bunch of crybabies over efforts to shut Huawei out of Europe. Russian equipment would be seen the same way. Huawei should just stick with undeveloped countries and they'll be fine.

It would be a disservice for telecom customers everywhere to be forced to put up with inferior alternatives.

Czech president asks China for Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine
By Reuters Staff
MARCH 4, 2021
PRAGUE, March 3 (Reuters) - The Czech Republic has asked China for deliveries of coronavirus vaccines made by China’s Sinopharm, the Czech president’s spokesman said on Wednesday.

The central European country of 10.7 million has been one of the world’s worst-hit by the coronavirus pandemic, with hospitals reporting full capacity and the death toll reaching 20,941 as of Tuesday.

President Milos Zeman, who has long lobbied for closer relations with China and Russia, asked his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping for the supplies, acting upon request from Prime Minister Andrej Babis, Zeman’s spokesman said.

“According to a report from the Czech embassy in Beijing, the Chinese side has decided to immediately meet this request,” the spokesman said in a statement on the president’s website.

A spokesman for Babis said he was not aware of the request when asked by Reuters. Babis did not mention it at a government news conference that closed just as the announcement was made.

Like other EU states hampered by delays in deliveries from the three producers whose shots have been registered in the UE, Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca, the Czech government has sought to boost supplies.

It won an agreement for advance supply of 100,000 of extra doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine from EU partners earlier on Wednesday, on top of 100,000 from France offered last week, and smaller amounts from Germany and Israel.

Babis has reversed himself several times on possibly using Russia’s Sputnik vaccine without approval by the European drug regulator EMA.

The country’s Health Ministry, authorized to grant an exception for usage of unregistered vaccines, has insisted it would not endorse any without EMA registration. A spokeswoman said on Wednesday that policy remained unchanged.

In the EU, Hungary started administering the Sinopharm shot last week, and Polish President Andrzej Duda has discussed buying the shot with Xi, the PAP news agency reported on Monday. (Reporting by Jan Lopatka, additinoal reporting by Robert Muller; Editing by David Gregorio)
