Pakistan took delivery of the last two Italian manufactured AW139M helicopters ordered from Leonardo. With the delivery of the 12th helicopter, Alouette-III type helicopters, which have served in the Pakistani Air Force for many years, have also retired.
AW139M is used for search and rescue by the Pakistan Air Force and in transport duties. Maximum takeoff weight of twin-engine helicopters is 7 tons, with a capacity of 15 seats. The AW139 can stay in the air for 5 hours and 50 minutes, can serve both civilian and military purposes. Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A series engines are used in the helicopter. In Turkey, the body of the helicopter is manufactured by the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).
