Rear Admiral Zahid Ilyas has assumed the responsibilities as Commander Pakistan Navy Central Punjab and Commandant of Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore.

The change of command ceremony was held at Naval Complex Walton, Lahore where Rear Admiral Naveed Ahmed Rizvi handed over the Command to the newly appointed Commander Central Punjab.

Rear Admiral Zahid Ilyas has a distinguished career with wide ranging Command and Staff appointments. His major Command appointments include Commanding Officer PNS BABUR and PNS ZULFIQAR, Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy and Commander 18th Destroyer Squadron.

The Admiral is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College and National Defence University, Islamabad.

In recognition of his meritorious services, the Admiral was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military).

He, after assuming his command he visited Shuhada Monument, laid floral wreath and offered Fateha.

What a wastage---why is there a navy office in Lahore where an Admiral sits---.

Does pak navy has now ships operational in river ravi---. So---why is there a Navy war college at Lahore---???

This is absolutely stupid---and wastage of funds / resources---.

All navy offices / war colleges should be on the coastline---Karachi---Ormara---Gwadar / Pasni---. That is where the navy belongs---that is where it needs to stay---.

A navy recruitment office is okay here---but an Admiral's office in Lahore---outrageous.

Isnt it sad when the decision makers ignore your valuable advice.

What are they going to do---train in BHUDHA RAVI now---.

Naval war complex Walton---so this is on stolen land from pakistan railways---just like the Falcon colony---.

Someone explain me---what is a naval war college doing nowhere close to a large waterbody---.

War college doesnt require a sea nearby. It revolves around strategies and management. Doesnt really need water for that. The things learned there are applied at sea during trainings etc.

None of the courses offered need a body of water nearby, it is more a higher managmenet training school. If one was to go by your logic, army command and staff college should be moved to LOC, as constant fighting goes on there.

No budget = no indigenisation. Also, keeping ksew in business and up and running. Jurrat, quwwat missile boats. Electronics and telemetry on these boats have been done locally. A sonar, a torpedo, some other upgradations to old ships done here, in Pak.

Not even jf17 and alkhalid are indigenous. All the airforce and army did were to give design suggestions to china, and locally assemble the finalized product. Navy has been doing that as well.

Some other projects going on, related to electronics and data acquisition. Cant go into the details. But you must understand that the navy doesnt get as much money as the other two forces, and hence it looks as if its doing nothing. Those who know, know. They dont need to and dont have to come on this forum to seek recognition and validation from computer jockeys.

That was only in reponse to the gentleman's comment about my post of Navy War college being in Lahore---about 1250 Km from the sea---.

Then I realized that it is WALTON---that ws pakistan railways property---.

Then I realized that as PAF stole the land from pakistan railways and built its Falcon Colony---in a similar manner Pak navy stole the land from pakistan railways in Walton as well---and built its navy college---that must have residential area as well for the navy personal attached to it as well.

So---it means that college was an excuse to be built there to steal land from the railways---.
Prime Prime residential land stolen by pakistani defense forces---.

Is the Pak Naval fleet commanded from Central Punjab ?
