Security forces kill at least 30 militants: police

PESHAWAR: At least 30 militants and three policemen were killed in a “search operation” in a semi-tribal area of northwest Pakistan, police said Tuesday.

The casualties occurred during a joint army, paramilitary and police operation against militants who were attacking local peace committee members and were involved in kidnap-for-ransom.

Peace committees are groups of local volunteers who help authorities battle militants and criminal gangs.

“Since Saturday night at least 30 militants have been killed in three towns of Paspanwa, Hasankhel and Bora,” Peshawar police chief Liaqat Ali Khan told AFP.

“Three policemen were martyred and five troops were injured in the gunfights,” Khan said.

“The operation is still continuing and we have cleared the town of Paspanwa which was their main stronghold”, he said adding that a large number of weapons were also seized.

Paspanwa is some 40 kilometres (25 miles) south of Peshawar.

A senior military official in Peshawar confirmed the deaths saying they took place when militants put up “resistance” during a “search operation.”

any VIDEO FOOTAGE of the battle?

any VIDEO FOOTAGE of the battle?

Why you need video footage ? It is from creditable source, is that not enough?
And Army generally don't release video footage even if they have for such a event. Are we getting any video footage from Afghanistan?

well there is a lot of media footage and from soldiers on Afghanistan
I would like to see it to believe it
during Swat operation when the doubts were raised then ISPR reluctantly showed the dead bodies of the militants to the local and world media but requested them not to broadcast them.

all we have seen is some mock attacks by the Pak army that are replayed again and gain.
not that I am criticising there will be some valid policy but it does raise doubts about the claims.

compare it will the grizzly and gruesome actual footage of the militants that shows beheadings & blowing up civilians & military personal that has 10 fold impact on the people

re this incident I will like to believe it but will prefer to see the slain militants that are after the very lives of the people of Pakistan
