Weird. Dont Hindus in Punjab watch these channels? What if there were cartoons showing Islamic characters? Wouldn't they have a bad effect on the Hindu kids?

Majority of Hindu's in Pakistan reside in Sindh. There is a limited number in Punjab too but they are from poorer background and would not have access to cable TV.

 jee the Urdu and Punjabi speaking ones are among the English speakers.

The children of "Liberal" people as you named them, do not have to watch little hunuman cartoons. They rather go for some science fiction and computer related stuff.

Above all i do not see these cartoons made keeping in mind preaching of hinduism as something for worldwide entertainment of children from different societies.

I do not see anything wrong if these are banned because either these cartoons or for entertainment or learning something positive whereas teaching children hinduism through these cartoons and Islamism at home by their parents will only lead to a confused half baked mind.

I say better watch Tom and Jerry the best for all ages.

I think everybody's kids would watch cartoon if they got a chance. Thast true for all 4-10 year olds. And you are right about their mind being impressionable. But I dont see it as making them less Islamic. The cartoon dont preach anything. If at all, a kid grown up watching a few of cartoons of a different religion that his own might be a more tolerant and understanding person. I am not trying to say that Pakistanis aren't tolerant. Just that exposing yourself to different experiences definitely gives you a better perspective on things.

And India has about 150 million Muslims. Is there data or info to suggest that Indian Muslims' minds have been corrupted by such cartoons? And another thing, what signal would this send out to the Pakistani Hindus?

All things said and done, I think the decision lies with GoP. As the state is an Islamic one, its free to take any decision that endangers that status.

A. Indeed kids love to watch cartoons for entertainment not religious based cartoons for adopting Judaism, Islam, Hinduism or Christianity

1. Kids are above weak or strong faith. They are kids what you are teaching them they will pick up. Exposing them to something which is in clash with their values and religion is going to be explosive in the long run and create problems. SO there is NO question of exposing your kids to better perspective.

2. Out of 150 million Indian Muslims how many have access to TV and other such facilities.

3. These 150 million Muslims in India are already living under live hinduism. Their practices are already corrupted cartoons or no cartoons that doesnt matter.

4. It is not about making Islamic or less Islamic in my personal view this idea of making RELIGION based Cartoons is flawed and not a good idea in itself.

Why Indian hindus felt the need to promote religious cartoons for kids????

I am dead sure if there is one such series of cartoons for kids wherein a character teaches the children about how to offer nimaz, makes waddu, say azan and so on then it will be dubbed as spreading fundamentalism.

They cartoons may be appropiate for some hindu household to make their kids belive but wont do any better than indoctrinating our children in false fairy tales. On my last visit to karachi i was shocked at hindi slang used in daily conversation among peers by kids as young as 5-6.

.

See Jana, praying and worshipping isnt taught in these cartoons. They are just animated depictions of mythological stories. Just for awareness and knowledge along with entertainment. If they were teaching or asking kids to perform Hindu prayers then it would be a different matter.

And its not like Indian Hindus are pushing these into Pakistani homes. This is similar to objections raised by many Pak members about StarTV serials showing praying and idol worshipping, saree clad women being a bad influence on society.

Anyways, GoP is in its right to ban it. I just wanted to clear any misconceptions regarding these being 'mediums of conversion".

:p:P do these TV gonna run on batteries or wind

That news is of Tamilnadu.. And that state has 2.03 crore electricity users and adds 5 lakh power consumers every year and thankfully these TVs work on electricity.. :woot:

even if there is no electricity there are community centres set up in villages where they can gather and watch "baywatch".:azn:

I read somewhere this free TV campaign is to reduce birth rates as people in village have no entertainment other than mattress action so they end up with lots of kids!

if you watch cartoons like chota bheem you will find that there is nothing religious about it except for characters name.

 Yes they do show worship to hindu deities. They show you young hunuman and his religious transformation. There are so many mythological stories why to depict hindu gods??

Nobody is saying you are pushing these on us. Taking measures against values which are in direct clash with ours, taking measures against promotion idol mythology is not a bad idea. I am for all these measures which can save children from spoiling.

Cartoons are for light entertainment and exposing non-hindu children to hinudism through these hindu mythological cartoons is spoiling their young minds.

Please stick to Tom and Jerry for entertainment do not promote religion through cartoons atleast
