Crash panic in Northeast India after fighter jet diverts from flying path

Panic about an aircrash gripped an Indian Air Force's airshow in the Indian capital Saturay after a MiG-21 fighter jet diverted from its flight path and flew very low over a field in the northeastern state of Assam, a senior defence official said.
"The MiG-21 was initially thought to have crashed in Assam's Sonitpur district. But it was actually flying very low during this morning after moving away from its designated flight path near Binduguri. However, it regained height later on and returned to its original path," the official said.
An Indian MiG-21 fighter crashed in northeastern India on Saturday, local media reported.

For those criticising IAF: The MiG-21 crashing are the real 1989 vintage versions. Since the collapse of USSR, these planes havent had proper spares and maintenance is very difficult. If you look at IAF's other aircraft ie mirage 2000, Mig-29, Su-30, and MiG-21 bison the attrition rate is very low.

The problem is neither IAF nor the MiG-21. The problem is really bad spares, some of which we did manufacture locally when our indistry was still immature.

But point remains that we have to phase out the MiG-21s and replace with LCA and MRCA before more pilots needlessly die.

I hope the pilot in this situation is ok.

Why can't the bloody F**K**G politicians hurry up with the trainers and the MRCA?! How many more pilots lose their lives for these B******s?

Non-Indians:

Indian MiG-21s are perhaps the oldest right now being used right from 60s and 70s which have more than outlived their lives. Due to our scumbag politicians, our pilots lose their lives. How much can you maintain a 30-40 year old warhorse? They were the most reliable fighters of their times. Its purely fuselage fatigue for the oldies.

I hope the pilot is alive. If they can temporarily upgrade the ejection seats so that till MRCA and trainers arrive the pilots can be safe.

It still doesn't undo the recent string of crashes we've had and people we've lost, man. My point stays simply because whether it was lucky this time or whatever, still pilots are dying.

Some how ,you always manage me to agree with you...Good point..:agree:

Thats the point. They retired their migs on time. Hence low crash rates. Indian migs 21 are way past their original life span. The attrition rate for Indian migs went up within last decade or two.

More flying coffing..kitne larkio ko widva karoo ge zalimoo!

Chill dude.. nobody died this time.Anyways, what you are saying is definitely a matter of concern. The IAF upgraded its MiG-21s to Bison, after which they can no longer be called Flying coffins. But then, these are old jets and IAF is in a process to phase them out.

how many mig-21 india have??how many turned into bisons??what is the crash rate of bisons?
