What's new

What happened in Sikh's Golden Temple today?????

as usual u have no idea what happened.
there was no support except among jatts and that exists even today especially the older generation of village jatts.

unfortunately no one else supports them and that was responsible for the end of that movement.
they were killed and maimed by punjab police only and majority of the force was sikh too

Is that why village were burnt .. Thousands killed by mobs.. Golden temple raised to the ground with tanks .. Operation shiri Karan n other .. ? Is that why even indian patriot Sikhs on this very forum talk about the disgusting attrocities n injustices n other stuff?? Bhinderwal was in the golden temple which itself says a lot about the public support to him..

The insurgency in Punjab died not because of no puic support but coz of the terrain n the ppp govt handing over the names of those insurgent leaders n so on...

But Sikhs want Lahore as capital of Khalistan and they are adamant about it.

That was the reason that Benajir Bhutto supported India against Khalistani's reversing zia-ul-haq's support.
Pehle hum unko Indian Punjab dela dein baki baad ki batein hain ;)

What nonsense .. It was ruled by Pakhtuns n Mughals . N sold by British to ghulab singh..

You should read better books on history than this sadakchap version.

When British defeated Sikhs; Punjab ( both east and west ), NWFP and J&K was under Sikh Empire.

wtf do u mean patriotic sikks??
u have 0 idea of politics that happened here,my whole family is fro doaba belt that was worst affected part due to lot of nri money.

they saw what happened before their eyes.

golden temple was untouched,it was the akal takht that was raised to ground.
u know why??

because those motherfucking terrorists won't come out and were taking humans as shields.
my father was one of the first persons to fo to golden temple the following day as a govt doctor to conduct autopsies and trest the injured,he saw the shit firsthand.

all the pictures u see of the bluestar raid were clicked by a fellow doctor only and lated circulated in media to make people angry,it worked for a while.
but then the khalistanis started looting people and asking for extortion money after kidnapping people.they started killing the punjab police guys even inside the golden temple complex.

At that time police and common people both got together to eliminate this menace, people tipped police on their hideouts and police killed them in thousands with lot of torture,no doubt. There were many innocet casualties too,i mean a lot,but there was no other way, they would have converted punjab to a nwfp or fata.

no doubt people who lost loved ones will be highly critical,i don't blame them but by and large people were against this militancy and proof lies in the fact than in last 20-25 years nothing has happened, not even a small bomb blast occured

hari sing dogra was genral in ranjit singh army he captured kashmir from pakhtuns with some hill chiefs then ranjit singh made hari singh governer of kashmir but after ranjit singh deth sikh empire became weak sher singh new sikh empror and dogras came in conflict and hari singh annouced his independent kashmir kingdom and deaft sher singh army in poonch kashmir and when partion of india take place hari singh sold his kashmir kingdom to india because kashmir had muslim majority

Several people have been injured after Sikh groups brandishing swords clashed at India's Golden Temple as special prayers were held to mark the deadly military offensive there in 1984.

Reports said the fight at Sikhism's holiest shrine was over who would speak first at the ceremony and that a scuffle broke out over a microphone.

Footage showed men running down temple steps lashing out with their swords.

Reports said at least three people had been taken to hospital with injuries.

The Indian government says 400 people and 87 soldiers were killed during the 1984 military raid to flush out Sikh separatists from the Golden Temple at Amritsar, codenamed Operation Blue Star.

But Sikh groups say the number of casualties was much higher and estimate it closer to 1,000.

On Friday, hundreds of Sikhs had gathered at the shrine to remember those killed in the June 6 raid 30 years ago, but the ceremony soon erupted into chaos.

Reports said the rival groups fought over who would speak first at the ceremony
Television footage showed the rival groups, sporting blue and orange turbans, fighting each other on a staircase and through the courtyard.

"Today we were supposed to have a solemn remembrance for the martyrs of 1984, so what has happened is very sad," Prem Singh Chandumajra, a spokesman for Punjab state's ruling party Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), told reporters.

"The temple has once again been dishonoured today."

Mr Chandumajra said the clashes in the holy place were unacceptable and that the temple management would take action against those involved.

A senior police official told the BBC the situation had been brought under control and the city was peaceful.

The 1984 military operation sparked off a chain of events that led to the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards.

That, in turn, led to days of anti-Sikh rioting in Delhi which left thousands dead - and Sikh groups argue that there has still been no accountability for either the army assault or the riots.

Earlier this year, Britain said it had given advice to the Indian military in the early stages of its planning for Operation Blue Star, and some Sikh groups are also calling for an independent investigation into this episode.
