-S20s lack AIP,but can be easily fixed

You HAD to say the "scaled down" part didn't you :omghaha::omghaha::omghaha::haha:. You guys from India can never change. A "scaled down" gun STILL fires the bullet. Scaled down doesn't mean they took out the bullets and made it a Water spray gun.

BTW, take a look at the cost that the Chinese are charging Pakistan. It's pretty logical to assume that just like everything else they bought from the Chinese; these subs will be customized to teeth, with heavy displacements and with AIP. The Pakistani's bypass ALL export control and capability limitations when they go to the Chinese.

The West would otherwise never sell these capabilities to Pakistan. I think these subs will not only have AIP, they'll follow the Israeli model and would also be used as a part of the second strike capability.

It would be great addition to PN Sir. AIP & SLCM capability will make it v lethal

There is no theory, on thing in fact that most of guys miss. S-20 submarines were never made. It is a design on paper, essentially it is a modified version/export version of Yuan Class submarine (Type-39A). Essential, a shell that you can fit in with equipment of your choice. So stating the specs of S-20 based on what is available on internet is not right. PN will get these submarines in there own personalized configurations. Nothing can be confirmed about the weapon package, propulsion or other sub systems. May have to wait till 2018 :)

I hope we get these fitted with AIP and they are comparable to western systems when it comes to stealth or silent propulsion. Also hope we will see SLCM that are fired from torpedo tubes (not very hopeful to see VLS on these).

Pakistan is surely going to put some sub system and electronics of European orign but still should have gone for atleast 2 U-214 too along with 6 S-20 but it looks like that Germans were not cooperation in TOT and PN wanted to go for strengthening SLBM capability and third nuclear triad. :coffee:

Pakistan To Buy Eight Submarines From China

Pakistan has signed a multi-billion dollar deal with China to buy eight submarines for its navy.

“Pakistan and China have reached an understanding on matters of defense cooperation relating to Pakistan Navy,” the Pakistan finance ministry was quoted as saying by The Express Tribune today.

“Financial arrangements to this effect were also concluded,” Ministry said after a meeting with Chinese authorities.

According to a briefing that the defence ministry gave to parliament in April this year, Pakistan was negotiating a deal for acquisition of submarines from China. In the same month, the UK-based Financial Times cited a retired senior official in a report that the contract could be worth $4 billion to $5 billion, the largest defence deal ever by China.

The finance ministry officials said that Pakistan would make down payments to China in four installments and the delivery of the submarines will be made in the coming years.

The financial arrangements were agreed during a meeting between Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Xu Ziqin, President of the Chinese state-owned China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Company Limited (CSOC).

CSOC is the trade arm of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) and its main business is the manufacture, repair, lease, and sales of military ships and submarines.

Last month, both the countries had also signed an agreement for construction of six patrol vessels for the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA). The agreement had been signed by China Ship Trading Company (CSTC) and the Pakistani defence production ministry.

The agreement stated that four ships will be constructed in China while the remaining two will be built at Karachi’s Shipyard under a transfer of technology agreement.

Will help keep our shipping lanes open so CPEC can function without any shennanigans from any jealous entity in the region.

India needs to come up quickly to address this new underwater Pakistani threat.

Looks like a mini typhoon to me. Are they gonna add silos to it?
