US kills al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in drone strike in Afghanistan

TTP and Taliban is the brainchild of AQ.

AQ goal was always to take over Pakistan and claim its weapons and women. This was the plan since the 80s and their entire operation was focused around collapsing countries like Pakistan, take the religion high horse and takeover. Taliban loved this idea and joined them. TTP is the result of this alliance.

US and Pakistan assisted the Afghans in their war against the Soviets and this is their payback? They spit in the faces of the ones that helped them and Pakistan lost trust and credibility in the with their partners as a result.

I wish the Pakistani public had as much sense as Musharraf did and fully backed him and fully supported the WOT and cleansed the tribal belt of Taliban. TTP would never have existed, many Pakistani lives would have been saved.

The moment anyone invokes the religion card, you people go full retard. Taliban are not the centre of the universe. They are charlatans and opportunists.
Your ignorant, baseless, factually false and completely laughable distortion of actual reality, proves how strong the propaganda had penetrated the society by the court declared Ghaddaar of the Pakistan.

You have been cuckolded by the Taliban. They are TTP, they are AQ, they are ISIS whenever it suits.

Musharraf is a proud patriot who did what was best for Pakistan. I just wish the Pakistani public didn't go full spastic when the Taliban put the religion card into the mix. They knew what they were doing, they hit your soft spot. They are master manipulators and psychopaths.

If Pakistan is involved (intel, airbase etc) then I think peace talks with Taliban and TTP are over and dead.

I think we're on a blunder spree
They can blame it on the U.S. and not on Pakistan. Biden claims the kill, Pakistan stays quiet.

I rather be that then an a$$hole terrorist who will kill anyone even you.
His supposed death count is still far far less than any given US President. Is he any less of a a$$hold terrorist than Bush, who launched two illegal wars that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians and destabilized the whole middle east where mass deaths are sill occurring?

(CNN)The United States killed al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in a drone strike, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Zawahiri, who just turned 71 years old, had remained a visible international symbol of the group, 11 years after the US killed Osama Bin Laden. At one point, he acted as bin Laden's personal physician.

The US government has not yet confirmed his death. President Joe Biden will speak at 7:30 p.m. ET on "a successful counterterrorism operation" against al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, the White House said Monday.

"Over the weekend, the United States conducted a counterterrorism operation against a significant Al Qaeda target in Afghanistan. The operation was successful and there were no civilian casualties," a senior administration official said.

Biden, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday as he deals with a rebound case of the virus, will speak outdoors from the Blue Room Balcony at the White House.

Zawahiri comes from a distinguished Egyptian family, according to the New York Times. His grandfather, Rabia'a al-Zawahiri, was an imam at al-Azhar University in Cairo. His great-uncle, Abdel Rahman Azzam, was the first secretary of the Arab League.

The US State Department offered a reward of up to $25 million for information leading directly to the capture of Zawahiri.

A June 2021 United Nations report suggested he was located somewhere in the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and that he may have been too frail to be featured in propaganda.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.

How seriously should this American claim be taken? The Yanks are claiming they carried out a drone strike.

Bullcrap....
So it will take another decade or so to finally end this terrorist vs free World drama or perhaps until the oil dries up in the middle east.
No idiots this time chanting US US in front of a white house ?
Dear, your analysis and navigation are correct.

It is the duty of the USA to help find the 'missing body' of Mr. Al Zawahiri.
In case the missile took the body and landed somewhere still then it is the moral responsibility of the USA to return the body OR give it a 'sea burial' as was the case with OBL.
OR
It is a lesson on 'how to make news from nothing - by the dummies for the dummies".

Since the 02nd of August to date, poor Taliban are still searching for the body.

The Taliban have not found the body of Ayman al-Zawahiri and are continuing investigations, group spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said on Thursday, after the United States said they killed the Al Qaeda leader in an airstrike in Kabul last month.
The United States killed Zawahiri with a missile fired from a drone while he stood on a balcony at his hideout in July, US officials said, in the biggest blow to Al Qaeda since US Navy SEALS shot dead Osama bin Laden more than a decade ago.
His death in Kabul raised questions about whether he received sanctuary from the Taliban, who had assured the United States as part of a 2020 agreement on the withdrawal of US-led forces that they would not harbour other militant groups.
Zawahiri, an Egyptian doctor, was closely involved in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the US and was one of the world’s most wanted men.
US officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, had said the United States carried out a drone strike in the Afghan capital Kabul on the morning of July 31.
"Now justice has been delivered, and this terrorist leader is no more," Biden had said in remarks from the White House. "We never back down."
The senior US official had said finding Zawahiri was the result of persistent counterterrorism work. The United States identified this year that Zawahiri's wife, daughter and her children had relocated to a safe house in Kabul, then identified that Zawahiri was there as well, the official had added.
"Once Zawahiri arrived at the location, we are not aware of him ever leaving the safe house," the official had said." He was identified multiple times on the balcony, where he was ultimately struck. He continued to produce videos from the house and some may be released after his death."
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had said the Taliban had “grossly violated” the agreement by hosting and sheltering Zawahiri.
With other senior Al Qaeda members, Zawahiri is believed to have plotted the October 12, 2000, attack on the USS Cole naval vessel in Yemen which killed 17 US sailors and injured more than 30 others, the Rewards for Justice website said.
He was indicted in the United States for his role in the August 7, 1998, bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania that killed 224 people and wounded more than 5,000 others.
Both bin laden and Zawahiri eluded capture when US-led forces toppled Afghanistan’s Taliban government in late 2001 following the Sept 11 attacks on the United States.

I believe the Taliban on this. Zawahiri is likely living it out in some CIA safe house.
