What's new

US Intel said"Pakistan will be a failed state by 2015". Facts exactly opposite.

failed...well depends, if the definition is that even in 2020s we can give universal basic education and universal basic health and power that countries have achieved back in 1950s, even those that wee far behind us have achieved that now..than yes we are a failed state

Pakistan is already a failed state, but a very successful and powerful army.

Oh and the definition of 'success' here is not 'winning wars' but clinging to power and popular appeal.

...and things will only get worse, in the long-term (more like 20-30 years), with the effect of climate change and scrapping of IWT coming into play.

ISLAMABAD – Known for its competence and articulated assessment, a report by top US intelligence agencies predicting Pakistan would be a failed state by 2015 proved to be inaccurate as Pakistan propelled out of severe economic recession and regional instability, whereas the US is the one that is faced with declining growth.

In February 2005, an Indian daily ‘The Hindu’ published a Global Futures Assessment Report jointly formulated by U.S. National Intelligence Council (NIC) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), suggesting that ‘by the year 2015 Pakistan would be a failed state, ripe with civil war, bloodshed, inter-provincial rivalries and a struggle for control of its nuclear weapons and complete Talibanisation.’

What adds insult to the injury of Indian press as well as US agencies is the fact that Pakistan, despite facing repeated blows in varied fields ranging from economic crises to regional turmoil, managed to successfully overcome hurdles and is well on its way to progress in 2017 – two years after the report’s timeline.

The report was also quoted by former Pakistan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Wajid Shamsul Hasan, in one of his articles.

“Pakistan will not recover easily from decades of political and economic mismanagement, divisive policies, lawlessness, corruption and ethnic friction,” said the report.

The report also forecasted a ‘Yugoslavia-like fate’ for Pakistan. As a matter of fact, the international community is keen to join multi-billion dollars China-Pakistan Economic Corridor that is trumpeting the arrival of an era of development and wide-spread progress.

Ever since the report was published in 2005, Indian press and civil society used it as a tool to mock Pakistan. Indian media was left red-faced after Pakistan achieved several accomplishments in the years following 2005. Now in 2017, the country is heading towards becoming an economic giant in the South-Asian region, despite all odds.

According to ‘Fund for Peace’, Pakistan ranks at No. 14 in fragile state index and is no longer counted among the countries included in the ‘High Alert’ list. Most importantly, Operation Zarb-e-Azb has resulted in the eradication of terrorists and Taliban insurgents, which the miscalculated report had suggested would gain control of the country by 2015.

On the other hand, world superpower US is in dire straits in terms of its economy and foreign policy. With Donald Trump gearing up to take office, it seems that his racist ideologies and irrational thoughts will only make things worse.

This is not the first time their wishful thoughtish predictions went wrong. History is full of US war, defeats, retreats. Plus hiding the truth and missing people are their business as well. recently.....

Dr Udo Ulfkotte, the former German newspaper editor whose bestselling book exposed how the CIA controls German media, has been found dead. He was 56.

Look up what the term failed state means before blowing hot air out of your rear.

Oh and before it was Taliban, economy etc that was supposed to make things worse. Now it's climate change and IWT. LOL.

Taliban and economy are still there and CPEC will especially destroy the Pakistani economy or whatever is left of it.

Climate Change and IWT will come into play a few decades later.

I hope you will read your post again when you are not drunk tomorrow

By the way Failed state was a banned term on this forum for a long time. Its good to hear after so long

The only difference is, IMF had to revise the growth of Pakistan on number of ocassions since last 3 years and Pakistan have been doing better than expected. Their prediction in 2014 showed Pakistan's GDP purchasing power parity will grow near 900 billion dollars in 2016, later they had to revise to around 930 billion USD, later they revised to 950 billion USD, later to 982 billion dollars until few weeks ago when the revised the upward figure to 988 billiom dollars... by that logic we are already 1 trillion dollar economy (possibly around 1030 billiom dollars) as its already half year past in the fiscal year. What it means is, our tiny economy is still bigger than the likes of Netherlands, South Africa, Malaysia and UAE in terms of GDP PPP.

By Nominal also they had to revise two or three times. The point is, Pakistan's GDP is likely to grow as the pace is coming back to the economy and if only the export and fdi issue is resolved, there is no reason why it won't be able to maintain the size difference with the likes of India anymore. That is histotically 1/8th the size of Indian economy in terms of gdp ppp and gdp nonimal

Oh really !? Then why do Indians always make so much noise about it , you guys should be sitting back and enjoying the show as " CPEC Destorys Pakistan " , don't be butt hurt mate , think before you talk so you actually talk something that makes sense.

I've answered your query previously. Go through my post history or RTFF.

Cpec is replacing kaali in indian mythology.... cpec maata ki jai ho

Failed state analogy is actually a failed theory...nobody believes in it. Pakistan ranks 24th in GDP purchasing power parity in the world. And there are about 204 countries in the world. Pakistan is actually a very resilient nation...

Pakistan has come out of a 5th generation war with growing economy and robust middle class....what else can u say about its strength

Sir, then you shuld be happy that CPEC would save Indian investment in proxy war.but still your country is crying over CPEC:what:o_O.
