What's new

US Intel said"Pakistan will be a failed state by 2015". Facts exactly opposite.

I feel Pakistanis are bigger fools to actually take seriously a prediction by random think tank just because its from US.

Actually It was your country India and Your Indians who took this phrase "failed State" seriously despite the fact that we do not have even Somalia and Afghanistan as failed states.

Put the "NOT GATE" after the news, whenever, news come from Indian or US media. One's can have catch by using this logic gate. It applies 90% of BS news.

Stephen P Cohen's book also hints at Pakistan being a failed state. No outside observor has had a positive view of Pakistan. I blame the leaders of Pakistan who have cared only for their pockets rather than dispelling this notion. Christine Fair too had a bleak outlook of Pakistan. Despite this there is great optimism among Pakistanis, but as Stephen Cohen noted, optimism does not make policy.

If after $100 billion + of damages and a loss of 60000 people the world still considers Pakistan to be playing a double game it is clear that our government has done little to nothing to dispel the notion. PPP was the worst seller of national interest and advocacy of baba America.

A fairly common mistake in Intelligence circles. People tends to make things up from their expectations, desires, and presumptions. @Khafee

I would take the opinion of a people who elect Donald Trump as their president with a bucket of salt.

America may have produced some of the most brilliant people in the history of the world, but the overwhelming majority of their population is dumb, illiterate and highly ignorant, and I say that after having lived and worked alongside Americans.

Some US think tanks are notoriously bad at fact gathering.

The fact that the Americans invaded Iraq over a fake testimony in 1991, and then again due to "WMDs", show that the Americans don't have a grip on the ground realities and only seek to push their own point of views rather than neutral and fair assessments.

For them, Pakistan is a 'necessary evil', so of course they will take the first opportunity to malign and abandon us, I just hope the next administration can recognize Pakistan's sacrifices and strategic importance.

These Ga'fil folks think that human intelligence and efforts are the prime movers. Little they know that it's all per PLANS & EXECUTIONS where no mortals have any say or share. Was Feraun or Nemrut short of PLANS or resources??? Power of "Kun Faiya Kun" doesn't belong to any created being...

Only toilet media takes CIA claims as word of gospel..all others ignore it...
Due to extensive alteration even Gospel is fraught with mistakes...

ISLAMABAD – Known for its competence and articulated assessment, a report by top US intelligence agencies predicting Pakistan would be a failed state by 2015 proved to be inaccurate as Pakistan propelled out of severe economic recession and regional instability, whereas the US is the one that is faced with declining growth.

In February 2005, an Indian daily ‘The Hindu’ published a Global Futures Assessment Report jointly formulated by U.S. National Intelligence Council (NIC) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), suggesting that ‘by the year 2015 Pakistan would be a failed state, ripe with civil war, bloodshed, inter-provincial rivalries and a struggle for control of its nuclear weapons and complete Talibanisation.’

What adds insult to the injury of Indian press as well as US agencies is the fact that Pakistan, despite facing repeated blows in varied fields ranging from economic crises to regional turmoil, managed to successfully overcome hurdles and is well on its way to progress in 2017 – two years after the report’s timeline.

The report was also quoted by former Pakistan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Wajid Shamsul Hasan, in one of his articles.

“Pakistan will not recover easily from decades of political and economic mismanagement, divisive policies, lawlessness, corruption and ethnic friction,” said the report.

The report also forecasted a ‘Yugoslavia-like fate’ for Pakistan. As a matter of fact, the international community is keen to join multi-billion dollars China-Pakistan Economic Corridor that is trumpeting the arrival of an era of development and wide-spread progress.

Ever since the report was published in 2005, Indian press and civil society used it as a tool to mock Pakistan. Indian media was left red-faced after Pakistan achieved several accomplishments in the years following 2005. Now in 2017, the country is heading towards becoming an economic giant in the South-Asian region, despite all odds.

According to ‘Fund for Peace’, Pakistan ranks at No. 14 in fragile state index and is no longer counted among the countries included in the ‘High Alert’ list. Most importantly, Operation Zarb-e-Azb has resulted in the eradication of terrorists and Taliban insurgents, which the miscalculated report had suggested would gain control of the country by 2015.

On the other hand, world superpower US is in dire straits in terms of its economy and foreign policy. With Donald Trump gearing up to take office, it seems that his racist ideologies and irrational thoughts will only make things worse.

It also contains detailed analysis as who were the main players fomenting trouble for Pakistan.

Yugoslavia was a failed State. It disintegrated into its constituent parts. A long as your borders are in tact, you are not a failed State.
