Trump vows to kill Asia trade deal being pursued by Biden if elected

FORT DODGE, Iowa, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, said on Saturday that he would kill off a Pacific trade pact being advanced by U.S. President Joe Biden if he were to win the 2024 election and return to the White House.

Speaking to supporters in Iowa, Trump said he was against the regional trade deal being negotiated by the Biden administration with 13 other countries, arguing that it would hollow out U.S. manufacturing and trigger job losses.

Talks on the trade sections of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), which is aimed at offering the region an alternative to China's growing trade clout, stumbled in recent days after some countries, including Vietnam and Indonesia, declined to commit to strong labor and environmental standards.

Trump, who withdrew from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal that had been forged with many of the same countries after taking office in January 2017, said he would "knock out" what he referred to as "TPP Two" immediately upon taking office.

"Under the next administration... the Biden plan for 'TPP Two' will be dead on day one," Trump said at a campaign event in Fort Dodge, about 94 miles (150 km) north of Des Moines.

"It's worse than the first one, threatening to pulverize farmers and manufacturers with another massive globalist monstrosity designed to turbocharge outsourcing to Asia."

The Biden administration had hoped to finish key chapters of its IPEF trade initiative in time for this week's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting. It has vowed to continue negotiating the ambitious deal, but election-year pressures and resistance to tough commitments from some countries make a deal unlikely, trade experts and business groups say.

Not a bad news
Trump wants bilateral deals.
He will double down on “American first”. He visited Vietnam twice. He pretty much favors communist Vietnam over communist China.
In the second term he has nothing more to lose, he will make us into a bulk walk against chinese imperialism.
Win win.

America is strange. When I was a kid, they went way out to win over China and push manufacturing to China in order to counter the then USSR. Now they are going way out to counter China using the same strategy with other countries.

Easy to understand
The room is too small for 2 elephants.
China was a baby elephant, fed by US money and the west. Now China becomes a big elephant. It today has Putin as cheap oil and milk provider, it now wants to kill the US elephant.

The China in 2025 will be exponentially more powerful than the China in 2017.

Trump 2.0 will be in serious trouble if he keeps using the same tactics as Trump 1.0.

For now, China has become immune to trade war and chip war, and it is even poised to flip the currency war.

China has also outlived its predecessor the Soviet Union.

Biden knows that the US can no longer contain China with merely brute strength, while Trump is still stuck with the 2017 mentality.

you live in a fantasy. the US economy grows such a high rate that the Germans cry the river. Lets wait. from what I see China economy has passed the peak and seems even passing the point of no return. the relationship to the west is damaged beyond repair. without western markets, people and technology China will become a version of Russia or USSR.
Trump is not a China lover. in the second term he will increase the hostility to Ccp.

The US economy is a ponzi scheme based on money printing.

The USD is severely overvalued, and the real economy should be based on the productivity.

Trump can play hardball with us anytime, but this time he will get burst again, even harder than he did in 2020.

No US President is China lover, but to play hardball with us is equal to suicide.

I actually want him back in power, it will further cause USA to go down the path of the late USSR.
USA going into civil war mode with trump re election. Think of the LGBT woke crowd who have dominated the media and the trump crazies. Further divisions and mass shootings and riots going to be happening everywhere constantly.

He also bankrupted his businesses a few times and has to depend on the bankruptcy laws to save him.

Me too, I am eager to see how he is going to tank the USD by handling Ukraine to Russia for his dreaming US-Russian alliance.

Biden is a scammer to cause the capital flight from Europe by inciting the Ukrainian war. With all the European capitals sought the safe haven in the US, he can use this as a leverage to hike rate to make the USD looks stronger.

When Trump is going to forsake Ukraine in order to appease Russia, he is going to prick the ugly bubble that inflated both the USD and the US stock market.

How do you know USD is overvalued?
Nonsense
The reality: USD is a commodity much like bananas. The more people buy bananas the more expensive the bananas will become.
People buy USD because they get more interests in return. They sell CNR.
US 10y bonds yields 4.4 percent
CN 10y bonds yield 2.7 percent.

Considering how much USD they printed out, it is getting worth less and less.
