Not sure how Pakistan is relevant here. Pakistan's currency isn't the global reserve currency. Pakistan just needs to war in Afghanistan to end, which will happen soon. Pakistan's economic situation is much better than the US.
Do you have any idea about US debt and deficit situation? It's much worse than Pakistan. As US dollar will soon be worth toilet paper (they will default on their debt in the coming years), they will collapse into 20 pieces.

Defense is a minor part of our budget. The F-22 program is not going to drive us to panhandling...
When those 20% is based on debt and consistent devaluing of the dollar, and coupled with the end of the tech boom and innovation boom era, what you have will be a consistent decline, and spending and overblown budget on military that do not bring profits but rather a cash deadweight and saddling those debts and liability to future generations, it could only lead one way, i agree social program had to be cut, there is no way Americans can live beyond their means anymore, but the military remains a sacred cow, cutting it would go a long way in reducing American dependency on debt, but America is addicted to debt, just one more war with say a country like Iran and you will see riots in Washington the magnitude you never see before, once Iran sink 6 oil tankers off the strait of Hormuz.

Many people do not realize that prior to WWII the U.S. debt exceeded our GDP. And the economic situation was much worse then currently. Yet the U.S. is still around and kicking. There is still a danger of the current world economic situation to be worse then the great depression if some hard choices are not made on spending. Especially on social programs that make the average person dependent on Governemnt checks. People need to learn to be more dependent on themeselves then on Government.

Mr. Thomas, you are right about WWI-I, but it's era of WW-III and it's not necessary that you will recover as before. People are talking about alternative of US$. China, India trying to convert their reserves in to gold. UST attacked Qadafi because he was trying to introduce gold coins as currency. Believe me world is changed now, you can't continue printing Dollars as you used to be in past.
As soon as USA and NATO leaves Afghanistan,
western hegemony will hopefully end.
In fact, I think Central Asia + China + Pakistan should form an alliance.
That would be very useful in countering injustice and the criminality of some countries.
