Tension escalate as IRGC shoots down US Spy Drone

IRGC air defense forces shot down U.S RQ-4 Global Hawk in the coasts of Kooh Mobarak in Hormozgan province (near the strait of Hormuz).

IRGC published the details on the incident:

At 00:14 o'clock local time, U.S drone took off from one of American bases in southern side of Persian gulf with known coordinates, and by violating aviation laws, turned off all of it's identification systems and in full stealth mode continued from strait of Hormuz toward Iranian port of Chabahar.

This aircraft on it's return to the west of the region and within the proximity of the Strait of Hormuz, by violating the territorial space of the Islamic Republic of Iran, started spying and gathering intelligence.

At 04:05 o'clock local time, while this aircraft was within Iranian territorial waters was shot down by air defense sector of IRGC aerospace forces.

In another report, the type of air defense system was announced as the 3rd khordad.

first reaction was spokesman of from US CENTCOM terrorist organization. Bill Urban told the AP, “There was no drone over Iranian territory.”

Later anonymous U.S officials acknowledged the shot down but claimed that the drone was within international airspace:

These are the same Americans who even claimed the attempted kill of their drone a few days earlier:

In this incident, they decided to remain silent after an actual downing of their top asset drone, so it's a sign that even American themselves didn't believe their own story of flying within the international airspace.

Iran Downs US’ Spy Drone in Persian Gulf: Report

There are reports that the air defence of Iran’s IRGC Aerospace Force has shot down a US RQ-4 drone close to the Iranian province of Hormozgan in Persian Gulf shores.



The US Global Hawk (RQ-4) drone was shot down on Thursday morning in an area close to Kuhmobarak village in Iran’s Hormozgan province, near the Persian Gulf waters, Fars News Agency reported.

The drone had reportedly trespassed into the Iranian territory when it was shot down.

They have done this several times to Iranian drones in Syria. Nobody starts war over a drone

The little that I know about this drone is that it is used for extra long endurance flights (can circle the globe ) so that tells me since no Arab country wants to be implicated in case of discovery then the Americans must have lunched it from Europe or even further away..must have had a very secret mission to take this asset in such a dangerous flight.

Shooting down drones is not that big of an achievement. The only thing this entire episode accomplished was to heighten tensions between the two nations.
