Promising multi-role fighter T-50 was created in the framework of "Sukhoi PAK FA" (PAK FA). Development of the aircraft began in EDO im.P.O.Suhogo at the end of the 1990s. Announced in April-May 2001 call for proposals under the program PAK FA was won in 2002, the project fighter T-50. The chief designer of aircraft - A.Davidenko. Full-scale design T-50 began after the defense of conceptual design in 2004.

Production of the series of T-50 prototype began at the plant KnAAPO (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) in late 2006. The first flight of the prototype T-50-1 made January 29, 2010 at the airport Dzemgi in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The program is the first phase of testing PAK FA began April 29, 2010 on the basis of FRI in Zhukovsky (Moscow region), and the adoption of aircraft into service and admission to the Air Force combat units is planned for 2013-2016 (According to the plans of different years).

History of creation : Sukhoi PAK FA (PAK FA), the fifth generation was created in the framework of the I-21 (program) as a fighter T-50 (the name of the prototype). Purpose - multifunctional multi-role fighter. Development of the aircraft began OKB im.P.O.Suhogo the end of the 1990s. In April-May 2001, the program I-21 / PAK FA tender was attended by Sukhoi OKB MiG interaction with both KB with Yakovlev on study draft of vertical take-off. The decision of the State Commission on the results of competition made in early 2002 - the project won the T-50 aircraft Sukhoi (chief designer - A.Davidenko) as the least risky to implement and fully satisfying tactical and technical requirements. In June 2002, the government approved the decision of the Commission's decision, requested to prepare a comprehensive program for the target and begin schematic design. Tactical and technical requirements issued by the Russian Defense Ministry in July 2002. The preliminary design T-50 is completed in the bureau in November 2004 and approved by the Russian Ministry of Defense in December 2004 has begun experiments on research aircraft. Electronic model T-50 (probably build a computer model of the aircraft) demonstrated Russian Air Force Commander V. Mikhailov no later than January 2005. By 2005, released the name of T-50 and I-21 and announced the possible protection of the technical design of the aircraft in 2006 . By the beginning of 2006, the layout of the airframe was blowing in the wind tunnel.

Production of structurally-similar samples T-50-0 (T-50-PAC) started on KnAAPO (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) in November 2006. In April 2007, the leadership of the Air Force approved the layout of the T-50, being issue of design documentation. In August 2008, the development of a set of design documentation is complete, the drawings submitted for KnAAPO for the manufacture of a pilot batch of T-50. Assembling an experimental batch of prototypes of flight (T-50 and T-SOS-50-1) started in December 2007 and continued in 2008. As of June 1, 2009 completed the assembly of T-50-0 is intended for static tests, being assembled aircraft flight test series (T-50 and T-SOS-50-1). As of August 20, 2009 created two or three technical sample T-50 (1-2 T-50-PAC and one T-50-CND) for ground testing and assembly conducted the first flight of the prototype T-50-1.

Testing
: December 24, 2009 at the airfield Dzemgi (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) first run made one of two prototypes of the first series of I-21 - T-50 CND. January 16, 2010 aircraft flying laboratory T-10M-10 board №710 from 14-28 to 14-54 Moscow time on the airfield in Zhukovsky Flight Research Institute made the first high-speed taxiing with the prototype engine T-50 - "Article 117", and 21 January plane flying laboratory T-10M-10 made its first flight with the engine "article 117".January 22 T-50-1 made a run for the runway KnAAPO Dzemgi with raising the nose landing gear into the air and release the brake parachute. And finally, January 29, 2010 in 11-19 local time pilot Sergei Bogdan made its first flight on the T-50-1 duration of 47 minutes (detailed chronology - See below. ). The second flight of the T-50-1 in camouflage coloring the Russian Air Force was held 12.02.2010 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Apart from the first flight was originally supposed to Komsomolsk-on-Amur make another 2-7 flights (according to various sources) and then the first prototype should arrive at the airport Proud (LII Air Force base in Zhukovsky).

Flight tests of the radar on the T-50-3 started August 8, 2012 14.09.2012, the media reported that the NIIP im.Tihomirova already made 4 samples radar. "Today already made four full sample AFAR. One stands on the permanent bench Designer General in NIIP Tikhomirov, the second - at the stand of" dry ", the third - the third flight model Sukhoi PAK FA (PAK FA) and have began flight tests. (fourth sample) is now installed on the fourth plane, which is to relocate (from Komsomolsk-on-Amur) in the Gromov Flight Research Institute and join the flight test. So the program goes on. In fact, according to the schedule agreed with the company "Dry", - said the director of the NIIP Yu.Bely held at Berlin Air Show "ILA 2012" (source ). As part of the array of about 1500 (1526 pieces according to some sources) transceiver modules X-band (microwave monolithic integrated circuits A range - MMIC) production of "Istok" (Fryazino) with total capacity of 12 to 20 kW according to different sources. Radar systems are made on the basis of domestic element "based on nanoheterostructures GaAs" (gallium arsenide). After adopting the mass production of the radar to be deployed in the Ryazan Instrument Plant (production capacity for 2009 to 50 radar AFAR per year). The detection range - more than 400 km (large radiocontrast targets) simultaneously track up to 60 goals simultaneously fire up to 16 goals

Modifications : I-21 Sukhoi Design Bureau (2001) - a promising fighter razarabatyvavshisya program PAK FA-21. It was assumed that the aircraft will have a mass of about 20 tons, the flight range of 4,000 km, supersonic cruising speed, small area of the EPR, maneuverability, was supposed to provide short takeoff and landing. The plane was proposed to use as long-range interceptor and multi-role fighter. Test aircraft was supposed to lead up to 2010, followed by the launch of a series and the adoption of the Air Force of Russia.T-50-0 / 50-T-CPO (rolled out in June 2009, was previously thought that the first prototype was ready in December 2008 . - not confirmed) - the name of "T-50 CPO" conditional - structurally-similar pattern - version of the T-50 aircraft for ground tests of strength. Assembling a series of samples of similar design-T-50 CPO conducted on KnAAPO between November 2006 Produced until December 2008, probably two T-50 CPO, but confirmed the existence of only one instance. 50-0 T - a body with strain gauges and accelerometers intended for static testing. Arrived at the Sukhoi Design Bureau (Moscow) in the spring and summer of 2009 (most likely after June 1, 2009) and is held there test (first broadcast media March 1, 2010).

Armament:
One 30 mm aircraft gun right in the fuselage. Some media pointed out that in the 2 arms of 30 mm caliber gun.

16 suspension points including 8 in the inner compartments (media) - by dr.informatsii media - 10 suspension points in the inner compartments:
- two internal fuselage (approx. 5.1 m each) compartment
- Two center-internal compartment (on the prototype T-50-1 is probably missing or not mounted as of 29.01.2010) - The alleged.
- two compartment under the wing of conformal 1-2 short-range missiles each AA (1 compartment on the wing)
- 4 suspension assembly under the wing;
- 2 suspension assembly under the fuselage (under intake passage)

This is what will make it a really good plane, Also looking at its videos etc we can say its quite agile and a good dog fighter.

This is a bloody A** kicker plane packing lots of goodies in one platform. I think that air intakes were redesigned and engine are placed at a higher elevation now. New engine of 160 KN+ power is in making and it shall give some exceptional performance which is not seen in any previous Sukhoi version or any other aircraft including F 22 or Yf 23.
