You should hear my dad talking about this; when Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, he considered it as a personal loss. Didn't eat for 2 whole days (he completed his higher education in the USSR). :P

Yeah man lot of old people felt bad that bad bad USA won and our dear brother Russia lost. My father's brother used to talk a lot about it for long time.

By seeing the pics i feel like they were not good at quality products like americans are , the presentation of the finished product is nice .............. see the helis all type they look like a junk flying and all the aircraft except SU30 is not good at presentation ....

But they say machine has a purpose and as far as it is fulfilling its purpose its good ...........

Most of the pictures posted here are old,low quality black and white pictures. It will be illogical to compare them with the shiny machines kept in display for an airshow, the kind of high-resolution pictures that we normally see these days.

Besides,Soviet machines are well to known to operate in rugged conditions. Most of the Soviet jets can operate even without a proper runway.

I miss the Cold War days

Even many Americans agree that with the demise of USSR, the clarity on world matters is lost. Also talking to an atheist, professional officer of USSR is much much easier than talking to an emotional, religious, 'hell bent of dying' Al Qaeda operative.
