South Asians Eating Grass to Acquire Nuke Subs

summary of Mr. Riaz Haq's Article.(Post no. 1)

A man has a Child who failed in the exam. The Man was too much angry and furious with his Child's performance. He went to the neighbor's house and beat neighbor's Child too much and said to him, "Because you played with my child too much, he failed in the exam. You are the main culprit "

Heh Heh.. ;)

comedy circus !
this riaz guy is a strong competitor for Kapil Sharma

The US Congress couldn't care less about the subject. It's an issue of concern for rational South Asians whose region is among the world's most deprived after sub-Saharan Africa.

It's obvious from your comments that you are as unconcerned and clueless as some of the Indian posters here about the close relationship between high poverty and excessive defense spending that affects all South Asians, not just Indians. And it's really triggered by India's massive arms buildup which has made India the world's number 1 buyer of military hardware on the world market.

Haq's Musings: Indian Arms Build Up Prelude to South Asian Arms Race

Concentrate your energies on your home country, if time permits then you could share some issues that Pakistan is facing. But you have nothing to do with India and Indians. Nothing you say or post will change what they do. Specially when half of them are uncontrollable issues, the other half is just plain unnecessary because those exists in my backyard as well.

Well, India's Economy is growing while Pakistan's economy is dooming. India is reducing poverty while Pakistan is increasing poverty.

India very well can afford all the military expenses along with poverty elevation being booming economy while pakistan with growth rate of 2% can't even offord grass for its citizens but can surely take aid to support its military

anywyas, RiazHaq should concentrate more on his failing country. maybe his articles can inspire the likes of zardari, gilani , residents of abottabad etc.

use the below information to write your next article :smokin:

According to the same source, the % of poor in Pakistan that live below the poverty line is 645 million (55% of the Indian population):

80% of the population have to live under $1 a day. According to a new Oxford University study (2010), 55 percent of India’s population of 1.1 billion, or 645 million people, are living in poverty. Using a newly-developed index, the study found that about one-third of the world’s poor live in India.

Why India lags behind as innovator - Indian Punchline

India has more malnourished children than anywhere else in the world (42%), and more poor people in eight of its states than 26 countries of sub-Saharan Africa put together. 638 million Indians practice open defecation as well. Indians make up 58% of the world population which still practices open defection:

Riaz Bhai belongs to that category that instead of bettering themselves, try and find others' weak points so as to justify their own sad state of affairs with the logic that they are not alone in misery.

It's really naive to think that actions and events in India do not affect Pakistan.

When India acquires a nuke sub, it affects the entire region and the world, particularly the people of South Asia whose resources are diverted to wasteful military spending when they are already among the most deprived in the world, being just a little bit better than sub-Saharan Africa.

How deprived are South Asians? You can gauge it by the fact India will not reach its Millennium Development Goal on sanitation before 2047, while Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal will not achieve the target before 2028, according to a United Nations report released on World Toilet Day 2011.

The WaterAid report titled "Off-track, off-target: Why investment in water, sanitation and hygiene is not reaching those who need it most" says that 818 million Indians and 98 million Pakistanis lack access to toilets. It also reports that 148 million Indians and 18 million Pakistanis do not have adequate access to safe drinking water.

I would say the same thing what forcetrip was saying: concentrate your energies on Pakistan. Leave India to Indian. According to Goldman Sachs estimate by 2050 the per capita income of an Indian will be $21000, while a Pakistani will earn only $7000. It is time for every Pakistani to retrospect what went wrong since both countries got independence at the same time.

One thing i don't understand,
A) world most poor people live in India.
B) World Most Hungry people live in India
C) World Thirsty people live in India etc etc

Even then PAK need more AID/ Discount Trade then India to run its affair, Lags behind Sci n technology, Get bank corrupt every time.

The age old link of Linking military spending to poverty in the third world which was traditional to Developed nations has now come down in the hands of some Indophobic South Asians

And as always has failed to answer couple of questions.

1.Despite India being the largest importer of arms , hasn't Indian defence budget over last 30 years been constant 2.5-3% of the GDP?

2.Is there any evidence that India is siphoning money for poverty reduction to military needs?

3. Isn't Indian poverty more to do with effectiveness of policy rather spending?

Also tomorrow is Pakistan going to commission 3-4 aircraft carriers just because India is doing so?

I don't see India complaining about China's military modernization ,to justify her military budget.

So why is Pakistan complaining? Unless there is a need to justify for Pakistan's nuclear sub ambitions by painting India as a boogie man and demeaning at the same time.

In the entire region and the world , except Pakistan i don't see anyone tailing India for a nuke sub.

Nonsense!

Goldman Sachs has recently said that India is the "most disappointing" of the BRICS. Jim O'Neil, the man who coined "BRIC" is even worried about a balance of payments crisis in India.

As to Pakistan's income, the per capita income in Pakistan for 2011 was $3150, about the same as India's. And if you assume the continuation of Pakistan's historical growth rate of 5% since 1947, Pak per capita in 2050 will be $19,794.98

Hi,
The Fact is We Are Lifting MILLIONS of People Out Of Poverty EVERY YEAR!
So I Don't See Any Problem In Spending 2.5-4% of GDP on Defence To Counter POSSIBLE External Threats.

I Hope Some Members Will Put Aside Their Personal hatred And Understand
Thankx.

"Most disappointing" not because of its performance but because it is not as open as other major economies. The quote was in context of opposition blocking FDI in flow in retail. I suggest you read the report by Goldman Sachs -'BRIC and Beyond', where the GS has projected the sizes/GDP per capita of economies by 2050
