Shahbaz says deal signed with China for Metro for 5 Punjab cities

Sharif brothers' Pakistan sadly starts from Lahore and ends well inside Punjab.

Lahore Karachi Motorway, Gawadar to Kashghar Railway line, Mass transit system for Karachi.....they aren't the part of Punjab i guess..

What about Karachi first?? He and his brother promised metro for Karachi first if they get elected in federal govt? Fulfill the promise ganja bros!!

who the **** are they to start project in karachi ..they have no mandate in sindh .. bhie yeh b josh e kitbat wala scene ha

Metro Systems are meant to be in cities with large populations.

Pakistan's largest cities

1. Karachi
2. Lahore
3. Faisalabad
4. Rawalpindi
5. Multan
6 Peshawar
7 Gujranwala
8. Hyderabad
9. Quetta
10. Islamabad

There you can see 5 out of our 10 biggest cities belong to Punjab and the Punjab Government led by CM Shahbaz Sharif fully understands his responsibility to fulfill the demands of the people of his Province.

People should stop asking about Karachi. I have said this many times and i'll say again. It is Sindh Government's responsibility but the Federal Government under Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is considering it. He gave statements of the importance of Karachi in China. He is looking for this development personally to speed things up.

By they way i'd like to see Peshawar getting it but it won't happen because Imran Khan is not serious. He believes education is the only thing that is important. It maybe is but not 'only'. Someone should tell him things need to work side by side. Once a person gets his or her degree, they won't find a job because jobs might not be created enough. Investment in projects like Metro will benefit commuters, accountants, technicians, engineers, real estate etc.

I think Sindh currenlty needs Hybrid BRT system of buses

Along with a massive plant to build Dams, new canals and utilizing the power of Run of river and canals for Power generation other than from DAMs.

Did PM take CM of all other provinces with him or Shahbaz made the cut as a family member. This shows the influence of Punjab on the Pakistan politics. This one of the reason parties like MQM feel so away from the main stream.

Oaey ! why you bharatis are having stomachache ???

The transport mafia there will **** Gunga bros if they tried this……

I guess first all posters from Karachi should make their mind so as to what do they want. When NS announced metero bus, they shouted for Circular railways. When Qaim Ali Shah sb announced Circular railways, they started to stress metero train. And now as the federal government puts forth a plan for underground metero train. People like @RazPaK are now arguing against it based on argument of Seismic fault line. If this argument is to be bought then Karachi is more at risk where multistory residential and commercial buildings with low quality construction continue to swarm the city (Except in DHA to some extent). Aren't they along with huge number of bridges and flyovers putting Karachi at a greater risk?

When a single kaachi abadi continues to hinder the Layari Express Way for a decade. How can one expect circular railways to be completed when many exist on its structure?

No actually its not Imran but his "ultra enlightened" followers who don't want infrastructure projects. I remember all the PTIians voicing against Metero "Jangla for them" Bus service. It would be purely hypocritical, if they make huge awe and cry over other cities getting it. One of my relative was very angry when PML-N announced metro for Islamabad. He said in anguish, "PML-N clean swept from Faisalabad and now owes a debt to the people of Faisalabad."

who will they run the underground train in Punjab there is no electricity for 12 hours?

What about Karachi first

Pakistan hopes Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) will finance 98 percent of the total estimated cost of $2.6 billion to revive Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), officials said on Friday. An agreement between Pakistani authorities and JICA officials is due in October to finalise modalities for the revival of the stalled project, Project Manager of Karachi Urban Transport Corporation (KUTC), Anjum said.

The joint initiative is aimed to help resurrect the KCR in line with the global standards and to establish the railway as a modern commuter system, he added. "The mandatory and precondition requirements have been completed from the KUTC side," said KUTC Director Ejaz Khilji. Anjum - Project Manager of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) told Business Recorder in his office that there are three shareholders of this mega project - Ministry of Railway is leading with 60 percent of the total share, Government of Sindh, and Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) which has 15 percent of the total Share. Rupees230 million has so far been released by the government of Sindh. Rupees15 million have been released by Karachi Municipal Corporation, and Rs 240 million by the Ministry of Railways, he added.

Replying to a question regarding the compensation and alternate settlement for the people who are going to be affected by this project, he said the survey has been completed and 4,650 people would be affected besides 2,000 houses that will have to be removed. He said JICA is responsible for the infrastructure including electricity and gas while KUTC is responsible for providing alternate land for the affected people. He said the victims are going to be allotted 80 yards plot each in Shah Abdul Latif Town. He said we have already issued tender for the construction of boundary wall which worth Rs 50 million and the work is well under way.

He said we have requested JICA (who will supervise this project) to allocate constructed houses for the victims. The concerned authorities of JICA have agreed to this but they may have their own estimations, he added He said Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC) has already signed an agreement to supply uninterrupted electricity for the project. Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has also issued a letter of comfort with regard to water supply.

He added that this project would generate employment opportunities and 117 specialists in various disciplines besides 2,000 full and semi-skilled workers would be required during construction phase. Similarly, 1,240 direct and 20,000 indirect jobs would be required after the construction.

CMs of other provinces also needs to get their arse off the seat & start working, but no 1 is busy/trying to keep/ protect both party & Gov seats, while the other one is just sitting inside CM house while Karachi is burning...

SS signed 50 billion dollar chinese investment two years ago, what happened to it?

electricity is more important then metro bus, 1 billion rupees subsidy for it, and punjab has no electricity and then its being blamed on karachi for stealing punjab's electricity

infrastructure is developed by investment and not to steal public money for a show pieve like metro bus

if lahore wanted metro bus why SS didnt make one at the very beginning and why did he pull one stunt just before the elections?

In Punjab they can easily eat this money everywhere else sab ko khilana paray ga saath main.
