Sectarian target killings in Karachi

another few dead on name of religious sect in our land of Pure , What a sham

Actually there is much more to it.... many are being shot dead on non sectarian basis.
for example, police officers, school teachers, university professors, over seas Pakistanis, even the children of army officers were targeted.. this is i call target killing going on in paralle to this one attempt of instigating sectarian violence...
Thanks to the govt. for every thing.
All troubles of Pakistan from last three years are engineered and so was change of regime.
Who killed Khalid Shahansha? was that also sectarian killing?
Who burned railway engines and markets? to inspire judicial ruling to personal favor? why present govt. pose it self disassociated with all blames of indian media? why present govt. pleaded KL bill which declared Pakistan a terrorist state?
Those who live in Pakistan knows how big is this bull ****.
Once again thanks to the govt. and their appoligistic media and commentators.

Karachi remains tense as three more killed By Imran Ayub
Wednesday, 16 Jun, 2010

At least three people were killed in incidents of target killing in different parts of Karachi.

Unknown assailants shot dead a man on the city's Mauripur Road. Police said the man was involved in criminal activities and an investigation into the incident was underway.

Another man was shot dead in the Usmanabad area. The victim was a former member of the Sunni Tehrik, police said.

Separately, one ASI Riaz was assassinated in North Karachi's Khwaja Ajmer Nagri area. The ASI's body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said Riaz was posted at a police station in Nazimabad.

Through Tuesday, tension prevailed in parts of Karachi for a fifth straight day as miscreants resorted to firing in the air after the funeral of a young worker of Ahl-i-Sunnat Wal Jamaat, forcing shopkeepers to down their shutters and keeping roads in the affected areas deserted.

Funeral prayers of the 32-year-old worker, Ibrahim Mana, were offered in a mosque near the Met Office, on University Road. However, frequent gunshots were heard as the procession crossed different areas.

“Ahsan, a 12-year-old boy, was injured in the firing, most probably aimed at keeping the business closed near Gharibabad,” said an official at the Sharifabad police station. “The shooting kept shops closed, but the bullet injury to the boy left area people in anger. They later carried out a sit-in on the main road in protest.”

Liaquatabad, Federal B Area and Nazimabad remained tense till late into the afternoon as tensions kept people indoors. Near the Gharibabad underpass, a group of enraged protesters set a minibus on fire. The vehicle was gutted before firefighters reached the scene.

Police have picked up at least 12 suspects since the violence erupted last week.

The Ahl-i-Sunnat Wal Jamaat offered in a statement on Tuesday to hold talks with representatives of all religious sects to calm frayed tempers.

Sectarian killings claim two more lives
KARACHI, June 28: Two young men were gunned down in different parts of the city on Monday as Rangers and police remained unable to control the spate of ongoing sectarian killings.

The killings in Nazimabad and Malir within a span of eight hours sparked panic and fear in the neighbourhoods. Though the chief minister reiterated his “resolve to protect the lives of citizens at all costs”, the killers in a conventional manner defying the pillion-riding ban met their targets.

In Nazimabad No 1, 28-year-old Sajid Ali was attacked near his residence while he was heading to the printing press he ran.

“There are conflicting statements of eyewitnesses,” said DSP Ghulam Hussain Gondal, the area’s supervisory police officer (SPO). “But an inspection of the crime-scene and examination of various eyewitnesses’ accounts suggest that there were four men riding two motorbikes who intercepted Sajid as he left his home. One of the motorcyclists fired several shots that killed him on the spot.”

As the body was being shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities, intermittent firing in Nazimabad, Old Golimar, Rizvia Society, Malir and Liaquatabad forced shopkeepers to pull down shutters and transporters to stay off the roads.

After the funeral prayers of Sajid were offered in the Rizvia Society, a large number of mourners staged a sit-in on the main road to lodge their protest against the ongoing targeted killings. Some Jafria Alliance of Pakistan leaders, who addressed the protesters, condemned the targeted killings on sectarian grounds and criticised the government for ‘its failure’ to put an end to the current wave of ‘terrorism’.The victim was later laid to rest in Mohammad Shah graveyard, North Karachi.

In the evening, the chief minister, home minister and capital city police officer reviewed the city’s situation and received a briefing from security officials before meeting a delegation of the Pakistan Medical Association.

While the chief minister reiterated that the “maintenance of law and order in the province is the government’s foremost responsibility” and the home minister and police chief shared with doctors the steps taken “to combat the criminals” and stop ongoing targeted killings, just a couple of hours later a 32-year-old man was shot dead in Malir.

“The victim has been identified as Qasim, son of Umar, who runs a grocery shop in Liaquat Market in Malir,” said an official at the Saudabad police station. “After purchasing fish from a stall in the market, he was returning home when two men riding a motorbike pulled up and opened fire on him. He was hit by six bullets and died on the spot.”

The body was later shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Though the police remained uncertain about the reasons behind Qasim’s killing, they gathered some facts related to the victim, who was a resident of Malir’s F.C. Area.

“He was associated with Dawat-i-Islami but its members have never been targeted on sectarian grounds in the past. The motive behind the murder is not clear yet, and an investigation is under way,” said Dr Farooq Ahmed, the SP of Bin Qasim Town.
