What's new

Responsibility was mine, actual rule was someone else’s: Imran on his time as prime minister

Who will challenge the scummy politicians and civilians? They're drowning in filth as well.

Indonesia was very corrupt, it then changed. Keep being optimistic as people can change as well. In the old time, even we need to pay some money just to renew our ID card, now not any more and they work very professionals. That is culture, needs some time to be eradicated. Never lost hope

You take every chance you can possibly get to accrue more power. Make statements and promises on policy and hope that the military will agree atleast in a bid to keep up appearances.

Just like all the temporarily useful idiots before him, he ended up on the street as soon as his utility was over. So what appearances are we talking about here?

If all of this gets too much for them, they will take back control — but the people would know and the people will start resenting them more and more. A force once lionised, now starts looking like total chumps.

I know my people. nothing will happen. The military will remain firmly in charge.

No, that is a lazy excuse. A nation fails when the people fail.

Correct in a normal society with civilian rule. Pakistan is another animal; people don’t rule, but a few do.

Then please explain why you made, and continued to make, and even now are continuing to make all these false promises and hopes to the nation when you know that you have no chance of ever delivering on them?

You have to look past that and see that he just showed the country that “military staying out of politics” is just a facade, after just few days prior COAS said other wise. On top, he’s directed more anger to the marasi officers running the country.

This showcases the short-term thinking of our officer corps.

That is the tradition for entire humanity from early days of history to 20th Century. Did we all fail as nations from, say 2000 B.C. to 1950 or so? Soviet Union did pretty well with a Selected few, China is doing gangbusters with a Selected few.

Those selected few you referred to in the Soviet Union and China advanced their society and brought out their brutality in a technological race along with economic development.

In 75 years in Pakistan , it's been the complete opposite with the selected few:

- Complete economic failure
- Complete industrial building failure
- Complete educational development failure
- Building a cohesive nationalist policy failure
- Failures in Foreign Policy

....the list is endless.

There cannot be a revolution when the Army is staying united. After what happen in Syria and Libya, I believe there will be no Army personnel that will support that bloody revolution idea.

I doubt Pakistani Army troops would shoot at protestors in Lahore or Islamabad

Did the Soviet Union do well ?

They did shoot protesters in Dacca and other cities (East Pakistan). Chinese troops are aggressive against Chinese protesters. Armies follow orders. If they start thinking before acting, it creates chaos. The whole army training is to subsume thinking into following commands.

Pakistani army won't at least not in their heartland. China is a different story.

The problem is there is no collective civilization pursuit. Its just individuals trying to safeguard their income and doing whatever necessary to maintain the money flow. Small thinkers.

The whole world knew, and knows even now, that it was, just as it is now, a façade, it is just that his ego was bruised by his premature departure, that is all. Hence the anger and lashing out. The officer corps thinking remains just as long term as always. They are already grooming the next generation of useful idiots to be used as pawns in the future. Those misled by his demagoguery, such as those found aplenty on PDF, will soon be shown to be just a flash in the pan, as all indicators that I can observe seem to be showing.

I assure you it is the same in most countries. We even call it our unofficial national motto: Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Oh please! Just take a gander around endless threads on PDF touting the great progress made during PMIK's tenure, just like those touting endless progress made before his time. We will see soon the glorious progress being made now, as we will see endless threads touting the great progress yet to be made by the next setup brought into power.
