Reliance to enter homeland security, hires Lall from Boeing

Everyone has to start somewhere. Even Boeing and Sukhoi started somewhere. Mikhail Kalashnikov was a tank worksman. There are thousands of other examples as well. So let the privates start and make the defence of this country respectable rather than letting the sarkari jokers destroy our credibility completely until even Maldives starts threatening us.

Nope Boeing is started by a person who had passion for flying. Yes, everyone has to start somewhere, but putting your hands on every thing, that kind of suggests something. Apple and Microsoft sit on a pile of Cash they do not enter every crazy sector. The TATAs & Mahindra have automobile thats some manufacturing and complementary to defense sector Textiles, Petrochemicals and telecom and you want a pie in Defence. The whole system is rigged

Adnan Faruqi is right, it just crony capitalism.

^ What do you mean by crony-capitalism.

Their money, they invest in whatever field they think will benefit themselves and if their shareholders are game who cares ?

Isnt that the base of Free-market system ?

BTW it also gives the PSU Defence companies some much needed competition.

Free Market in India are as Free as Services of a Babu. It is certainly their capital, but the same players playing the game in each and every sector. Now that is certainly interesting. I do not mind, Lockheed subsidiary or EADS or BAE system or Sukhoi or any one entering, we are laggards in defence tech. Instead of inviting the best from the world, we are inducting the politically connected start-ups? Way, to go. At this pace God can only help India.

They do not have any experience in the field of Defense, for the starters. Its just as if Exxon Mobil enters defense business.

LMAO!

Listen Kid, did Boeing had any experience when they entered aerospace sector? The answer is no.

And, why would you compare Reliance with Exxon Mobil? You see that's the problem with NRI's. They fail to imagine India as independent from their newly adopted country USA and start comparing every nut and bolt.

Dude, we in India have our own way of doing things. Let's not be critical of everything Indian just because we don't do it your "american" way.

And lastly, you should be thankful to Reliance for bringing back kinds of Lall to work for his country and opening an avenue for all NRI's who complain about lack of "good pay"(as if its a criteria for working for India) in India.

So, you are claiming that USA is a free market?

You are acting like a whipping boy for americans here. Its quite funny but I don't blame you since you are an NRI. You are just speaking where your dollar is.

Its normal for companies in Asian nations to diversify greatly. Samsung has investments in everything from TVs to shipbuilding to defense. Mitsui is in everything from finance to chemicals. LG invests in makes things as different as phones, refrigerators and petrochemicals. Baosteel is still a materials/steel company, but it also is in IT, real estate and financial consulting. Founder Group was originally started as a state owned electronics company that now does insurance and pharmaceuticals.

I see nothing wrong with Reliance entering the private sector.

LOL!!

This notion of "American" is pure and high, sells only in backward African countries. Take this argument there.

Apple, Microsoft are not saints. They are involved in far larger tax scams than whole Indian corporates ever did in its existence. Microsoft maintains its monopoly by bribing regulators and hostile take-overs, using its influence in corrupt US trade department. That's how big corporations grow, through a nexus with corrupt politicians(Republican party is full of such scumbags). In fact, every US politician works as lobbyist for some private firm or organisation.

And guess what, each one of them hold stakes in lobby firms which take money from these private corporations to protect their corrupt interests. The whole american system is rigged and a great example of crony capitalism. Also, so-called clean and pure bill gates owns media houses. Why a software guy want to own a media house and news channels? Simple - to cover up their nexus with politicians and keep Mr.Corrupt- Bill gates image clean.

India is far better in this area and we are still cleaner than American system. For example, Indian prime minister doesn't hold any shares or personal interests in private oil firms in this country otherwise we will end up sending Indian army to wage WAR on some country to take control of Oil and gas reserves and force that country to sell oil in Rupees by murdering, raping million in that country. thank god!!!

Now if Indian company(Reliance) is using same tactics to grow big, what's wrong in that? What is your pain?

I think you are acting like a typical racist NRI. One who says on face "I am Indian" but inside his heart hates Indians(those who live in India).
