What's new

Pakistan's new Chinese submarines will likely carry nuclear-capable CJ-10K LACMs

Why not u mentioned great mughals rules Hindustan for 1000 years ? ;)

Yes , under British rule , Muslims are Kings also.....

Might be your didn't know Indian history well.... Didnt you know about Maratha Military Leader who kicks Muslims kings like anything?

Muslims rules entire India for very short of time....

nope , world believe especially when they see china Nuclear Bomb design with Libya provided by PAK AK khan and carrying material inPLanes.

Also After Indian caught NK ship carrying So called PAK self made missile parts / Lathe machine . :)

didnt the Last Time PAK started Ringing RED Phone and asking India to stop Firing ? and also run to UN but they refused to listen?
Year 2015

no one claim that after seeing China Nuclear blue prints , But someone claims one Muslim equal to 1000 Hindus but after defeat , that claims died too

Don't understand what you're really getting at what you are trying to say. No sane person would believe indian lies & propaganda that Pakistan would ask india to stop firing and give them a phone call regarding it.

Pakistan did have help from China becoming a nuclear power just as india had help from Russia and Canada. Contrary to bollywood fantasies, indians DID NOT invent nuclear weapons, pioneer the technology, means and designs to build them either.

It should be noted that the CJ-10 has a 1500-2500 km range, depending on warhead type. The range of a nuclear-armed variant would likely hover around the 1500 km ballpark given the sheer mass-to-volume ratio of nuclear weapons.

========

I apologize if I am to preemptively rain on anybody's parade, but several key oversights and overt mistakes in the article lead me to believe that the report is quite inaccurate, if not outright false.

Let's start with the following quote:
carry up to three nuclear warhead-carrying CJ-10K land attack cruise missiles (LACMs) each.
The Chinese, although not legally bound by MTCR regulations, have de facto agreed to abide by its export limitations, including agreements to limit the range of exportable missiles to <300 kilometers. Hence, the CJ-10 missile would not be able to be exported unless drastic reductions to its range are undertaken (highly improbable and impractical given the missile's size). One can say that Pakistan and China enjoy a "special" relationship, but history has demonstrated that the Chinese have not once broken the MTCR rules that they have unofficially ratified.

It should also be noted that there is zero proof that the CJ-10K could be launched from torpedo tubes of the S20 submarine. Anybody believing that the S20 contains a VLS should take a good look at these images.

Now, let's have a look at the following claim:
It has been assessed that Pakistan’s nuclear submarine is likely to be based on the Qing Class Chinese SSK (diesel-electric submarine). Highly advanced electric propulsion system of Qing Class Chinese SSK will enable Pakistan to replace diesel engine power generation with a nuclear power plant.
This is dishonest journalism, if anything. A simple Google search would reveal that the Qing-class submarine is a testbed, not a combat-slated vessel. It has two SLBM silos and VLS cells to evaluate next-generation weaponry. Another blaring red flag is the fact that the Qing-class design is wholly independent of the S20's.

Thus far, all authoritative Pakistani sources have stated that it is the S20 design that has been procured: http://quwa.org/2016/08/04/pakistan-ministry-defence-production-confirms-submarine-contract/

In a brief report published by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, a Pakistani-government-funded think tank, more details of Pakistan's new Chinese submarines have been disclosed. The report also assesses Pakistan's pursuit of developing nuclear submarine and desire to acquire ASW capability.

Excerpts:

To counter Indian naval buildup, Pakistan agreed to purchase eight new submarines
from China in March 2015, which will be equipped with a Stirling-cycle Air-independent propulsion (AIP)
system and will be able to carry up to three nuclear warhead-carrying CJ-10K land attack cruise missiles
(LACMs) each.

It has been assessed that Pakistan’s nuclear submarine is likely to be based on the Qing
Class Chinese SSK (diesel-electric submarine). Highly advanced electric propulsion system of Qing Class
Chinese SSK will enable Pakistan to replace diesel engine power generation with a nuclear power plant.

In 2014-2015, Pakistan signed an agreement with a German firm “Rheinland Air Service (RAS)” to
upgrade two Pakistan Navy-regional air transport (ATR-72s) into maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) with
anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capabilities. According to the Ministry of Defence Production, these ATR-
72s will be ready for Pakistan by 2017-2018. Furthermore, it is possible that a third ATR-72 will
ultimately be sent for conversion, especially since the platform is considered a key part of the Navy’s
Aviation Vision 2030 plan.

The submarine-launched CJ-10K LACM has been developed by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp’s (CASIC) Hubei-based Ninth Academy (also known as the Sanjiang Aerospace Group, or 066 Base) on cooperation with the Third Academy’s Beijing-based Xinghang Electromechanical Equipment Factory (159 Factory). Final assembly of the CJ-10K is undertaken by the Beijing-based Hangxing Machine Building Factory (239 Factory).

So we are not going to get that missile??:(:(:(

Most sources report Pakistan purchased a variant based on the S20 (and not exactly S20). But you should note that Pakistan can modify conventional submarines to carry nuclear-capable cruise missiles (like CJ-10K or Babur) itself.

Press Release
No PR122/2012-ISPR Dated: May 19, 2012
Islamabad - May 19, 2012:
NAVAL CHIEF INAUGURATES NAVAL STRATEGIC FORCE HEADQUARTERS

Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila today inaugurated the newly constructed Headquarters of the Naval Strategic Force Command (NSFC). Lt Gen (Retd) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai Director General Strategic Plans Division and other senior ranking Naval and Military officers were also present on the occasion.

While welcoming the Chief Guest, Vice Admiral Tanveer Faiz, Commander Naval Strategic Force Command highlighted that HQ NSFC will perform a pivotal role in development and employment of the Naval Strategic Force. The Force, which is the custodian of the nation’s 2nd strike capability, will strengthen Pakistan’s policy of Credible Minimum Deterrence and ensure regional stability.

The default assumption is Pakistan had already operationalized Babur cruise missile on Agosta 90 submarines. Pakistan can do the same with Chinese submarines also (after 7-12 years when they enter service).

1. PN will be getting two variants of the S-20 class submarines (NOT Qing class). They include S-26 (6) & S-30 (2).
2. ALL of these submarines will be conventionally powered. The nuclear submarine project is independent.
3. China WILL NOT export CJ-10 under ANY circumstances to Pakistan.
4. The Chinese submarines will deploy Babur SLCM, compatible with all submarines of the existing inventory.

For the Muslims it was the loss of Empire, for the Hindus it was a change of masters..

Says one whose country first paid homage to the Germans and then the British and then the western allies within the space of 75 years.

You are comparing apple with oranges. Empires are there to be built and destroyed and built again. Motherlands are to be kept independent at any cost even it means losing one third of male population fighting against almost the entire western world..

You lost and are now in the tailspin of that defeat. Accept your loss instead of giving selective interpretations of history and casting aspersions at others. If I start getting into the so called leadership qualities of your military leaders, there won't be an end to the debate.

so no babur slcm?
Babur SLCM's testing is complete.

Very well said.

Thank You

phew so my predictions are correct (pn getting two sub types)

wont the larger two [s30] be fitted with a reactor?
what the different between the s26 and the s30? or is it just size/endurance?

Whabout them BALLISTIC MISSILES
