ISLAMABAD: *Pakistan economy can double to $700 billion by following 'Bangladesh model'.*

Jahangir Akhtar, a veteran leader of the trading community, has supported the statement of a minister proposing to follow Bangladesh’s model to ensure rapid economic growth.

“Development like Bangladesh is difficult but not impossible. Cooperation of the business community will be vital in this regard,” he remarked.

Talking to reporters on Thursday, Jahangir Akhtar said that the growth rate of Bangladesh is 8.13pc, while its currency is stable. “Its (Bangladesh’s) stock exchange capitalization is three times larger than that of Pakistan.”

He noted, “Bangladesh’s exports are almost double to Pakistan. Its GDP is $300 billion which will jump to $700 billion in the next eleven years. In comparison, Pakistan’s GDP is shrinking to $280 billion.”

No, development in Pakistan needs to be equitable and fair, benefiting all strata of society.

Problems faced by Pakistan and Bangladesh are completely different, please stop comparing apples and oranges.

Lol!!! Is this for real...

Bangladesh Statistics
Dhaka Stock Exchange is the 48th largest exchange out of the 110 stock exchanges we track. The Dhaka Stock Exchange's Market Capitalization is $39.07 Billion adjusted US Dollars as of March 2019.

Pakistan Statistics

PSX's origin's where laid with the establishment of the Karachi Stock Exchange in 1947, the Lahore Stock Exchange in 1970 and the Islamabad Stock Exchange in 1992. As of February 23, 2018, there are 559 companies listed in PSX and the total market capitalisation is $84 billion.

This is another internet hoax like that of 40% of NASA engineers are Indians and Mumbai GDP is higher than Pakistan...and lots of others in Indian media.

And Pakistan GDP will double with a new base year GDP calculation in 2020 or whenever it is done....

Judging from the lifestyle of a significant portion of the population (middle and upper class,) you will never imagine that Pakistan is a poor country.

Our problem is unequal distribution of wealth, and corruption, money laundering.

Our government is broke, but our people are filthy rich, and as Imran Khan stated last week, Pakistanis don't pay tax.

Yes true this is proverbial of Pakistan state, the people are rich the govt. is poor, oft. quoted thing.

Also I was surprised by the fake and misleading statistics quoted here about BD and Pak stock exchange, this was done in some earlier post as well.

So Pakistan stock exchange market cap is more than twice that of Dhaka stock exchange.

This is not rocket science.

Bangladesh Model is basically accepting regional hegemony of India and that is something Pakistan will never do.
U already have cpec,, naali se dollar banenge,, apne ghabrana nahi hai.
As some pakistani said,, Bangladesh is a hindu country, with ppl of subcontinental origin(no arab, turkic, central Asian n such),,,so too much jahilyaa.
No comparison with a Purely Islamic nation like Pakistan.
Rahi baat Indian hegemony ki,, woh to ho hi nahi sakta,,, pakistanis r martial ppl,,aaj tak kisi ki majal nahi hui ke iss martial race ko rule kare,,,history me toh yahoodi-hanoodiyon ne sara jhoonth likha hua hai.
