Pak-US NSA meeting: Details

View attachment 747477

US National Security Advisor told Pakistan’s NSA in Geneva last Sunday that the United States requests the “kinetic use of drones” from inside Pakistani territory until September 2021. Pakistan’s NSA rejected the request. The U.S. also offered drone surveillance capabilities of the Pak-Afghan border. The Pakistani NSA told him that this is not 2008, we have our own drones now. Foreign Minister stated today “Pakistan does not need your surveillance drones nor will ever allow either kinetic drone operations or American bases”.

if above story is true (i tried but could not find the source) they are tightening the nooze, the increase in contacts and the developments taking place shows they have a plan and are now ready to exit Afghanistan but with their presence established for later.

these developments: we should know these would come with the exit of US from Afghanistan. they have planed it without taking Pakistan into confidence as usual and are ready to execute and are now contacting on different levels.

this is time to test Pak resolve and there are many stakeholders within Pakistan including govt and establishment. just wait and watch who blink the eye first and it all will be gone into a mess.

we have seen consequences of giving the camel a little place and we saw "Salala" and then "Operation Neptune Spear" besides several other incidents like spying devices, davis and it keeps going. US once establish their presence post Afghan exit at the shoulders of Pakistan, that will be a nightmare for us.

but are we ready for the consequences if we take a stand?
there will be no military help: to me its ok, how can we sell interests for the lucratives.
we have trade with US: i do not think it will be hampered.
FATF, IMF, WB etc: this is only "us" who can bring us out of this mess.

i hope foreign office and military and other departments work together on their own plan and handle the situation wisely. we just need to learn how to deal and so far we have been weak in this domain.

Pakistan offered to reset ties, Biden answered Pakistan with complete disregard and disrespect. What the hell did the US expect would be Pakistan's answer to their request for a drone base?

Pak-NSA is right, this isn't 2008.

Biden still has a chance to fix all of this, all he needs to do is pick up the phone and call IK, I doubt he'll do it though, his dumbass advisers are probably the ones who're telling him to treat Pakistan badly.

True, Well said indeed... The problem with the US is that it has a huge ego, the larger/Powerful the country/Empire the bigger their ego becomes, US stayed in Afghanistan after OBL alleged assassination only because they don't wanted to look defeated, and yet here we are. Same with Pakistan, to them Pakistan is a tiny S.Asian country which lost almost half the country to Indians, and with just one WOT they have manage to destabilize entire Pakistan for decades, All of that along with keeping Tabs on Iran and China. Now as the Geopolitics is changing, Pakistan found a way across the US, found Business Partners, Investors, Military hardware so they are now not looking to the US, time and time Again Pakistan leadership both Army and Politicians think that this time the US will make a sensible decision, or any decision at all about their Policy towards Pakistan, but honestly, I can't recall any article or Statement from America that doesn't include Afghan Peace Process, is that all Pakistan is for?

Americans still can fix this broken relationship if they come off their high horse for once, see the reality unfolding right in front of them, Afghanistan is a lost cause, they lost this war and are going back with a destabilize and much dangerous Afghanistan, They Sanctioned Pakistan, Stop CSF and all Military Hardware because of the Indian lobbies who will always keep Americans away from Pakistan, and how did that End up for Americans in Afghanistan? Sooner or Later voices will be heard that the Afghan war is lost and it was all because of Pakistan (Mark my words). Americans have always underestimate Pakistan, betrayed it After the cold war, Sanctioned it, and backtrack from its commitments if it wasn't for a Weak Economic Pakistan, Pakistan would've Parted ways with American a long time ago.

Not sure about these two demands ..source missing but anyways this can be discussed / explored

"The U.S. also offered drone surveillance capabilities of the Pak-Afghan border"

where as demand one about the drone base should be rejected with no second talk.

We are in this mess because we didn't respect ourselves. Don't be surprised of a u turn.

That is middle path Pakistan should take it including settelite coverage of border that would be helpful as well

Through, there was a meet between NSA's but I haven't found the content in which they talked about "kinetic use of drones". So source, would be greatly welcomed.

What ever the mechanism it will be, Pakistan should operate it and take the lead or if required American input than make sure that we always have the complete picture of whats going around. Cooperation on this point can be made.

Once the Genie is out of the bottle, it cant be controlled.

I will refrain from commenting further, till a credible source is cited.

Where are all the people that were abusing government?

"Delegations" = NOT one on one, so who all were there?
Syed Talat Hussain posted about it.

Personally i believe that a settlement will be reached with US for a joint surveillance team for Afghanistan. The most interesting part which everyone missed was this,
//
Earlier in the hearing, Senator Kevin Cramer, a North Dakota Republican, asked the Pentagon official what type of manned or unmanned capabilities the US would need in the region to prevent “terrorists from returning to Afghanistan”.

“Things we cannot have in Afghanistan,” such as overflights, Mr Helvey. He said that there were other assets that were not available in the region and the US has the capability to bring them into the region “on a regular basis”.

Senator Manchin reminded him that with really no assets on the ground, Washington will have to rely on its regional partners to work with the US. “Are you confident of our regional partners and their capacity and commitment to drive terrorists out of the region?” he asked.

“We will have to work with our local and regional partners, and we want to continue developing those capabilities and those partnerships to be able to ensure that we have the right of framework to address the threats.”//

Pakistan needs to be sure to make the Americans pay a price if it wants help :

- Pay all oustanding CSF bills that are oustanding/frozen.
- Vote to remove Pakistan from FATF
- Enter into a Free Trade Deal
- Remove all current USAs sanctions on Pakistan both direct and indirect.
- Make it easier for Pakistani companies to purchase high tech equipment from USA (eg circuit design, CPU design software etc).
- To change Pakistan's designation within USA structures so that it is more friendly for American investors to be able to invest in Pakistan.
- Liberalise which technology is available to Pakistan so that Pakistan become a centre for outsourcing of high tech industries to Pakistan the same way India is..
- To make sure anything agreed is FREE of annual certifications on good behaviour - ie they have to be permanent long lived agreements and not transactional items.
- Membership of MTCR and NSG groups.

There is NO need to ask for sophisticate weapons systems from USA - that just clouds the picture and makes it all toxic and then makes it all transactional.

Whatever is agreed has to "outlive" the current USA president and the current Pakistani prime minister etc.. ie long term agreements that bind institutions together.

The focus has to be on economic co-operation and NO MILITARY - this is not required.
