National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval meets his United States (US) counterpart Jake Sullivan, in New Delhi on 13 June 2023ANI

India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and his US counterpart Jake Sullivan on Wednesday held delegation level talks -- ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to the US next week -- devoting considerable focus on the role of China in Asia and the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), reports Economic Times, a news outlet of India.

It has been learnt that China’s expanding footprints across Asia with specific focus on its long-term designs in the IOR received considerable focus in the talks here held a day after the second edition of iCET dialogue aimed at advancing critical technology cooperation, the report added.

The ET report further said other regional issues in India’s neighbourhood were also on the agenda of the talks. Two of India’s neighbours – Maldives and Bangladesh will go to polls later this year and early next year respectively. India is of the opinion that no initiatives should be launched in its neighbourhood that impacts its national interests adversely.

China has been expanding its presence in Myanmar besides Pakistan through economic corridors that would enable Beijing to project power across the Indian Ocean Region in the years to come, according to sources here.

US Indo-Pacific coordinator Kurt Campbell was accompanying Sullivan. The US on its part is worried with China’s territorial claims in the South China Sea region and its influence across the Pacific region.

China has all plans to project dominance in Indian Ocean and has been making efforts to cultivate the Himalayan States besides Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the Economic Times report added.

The national election in Bangladesh should be free, fair, and participatory. Is this against Indian interest in Bangladesh?

Indian interests in BD? Isn't BD supposed to be a sovereign nation? Jeez, this doesn't get worse. Talk about blatant meddling.

You know what pajeets are referring to. Don't remove Hasina from the scene.

BD and Nepal de facto belong to India anyway. Bhutan too, but we let them be.

Pakistan is the big prize, usko to de jure lena hai, full official reunification but will grant special status as a province.

LOL pajeet. Thora dhire se. You are not that powerful yet. First conquer Pakistani generals. Reunification is out of the question. Even after Pakistan breaks up chances of reunification are non-existent. We hate you guys too much to reunite LOL

Truth is that India on its own cannot keep Hasina in power.

You overestimate India’s power.

If the Chinese and the Japanese turn against Hasina - she won’t last 5 days.

But looks like the Chinese are backing her a 1000% and that’s your problem.

And Japan is trying to nudge Bangladesh even closer to India.

It’s quite funny how everyone and everything has conspired against the BNP and its islamist allies.

Even the Saudis are courting India and China and won’t go against their wishes in Bangladesh.

Ffs, even the Russians are backing Hasina!!!

Democracy and liberty must once again prepare for a D-Day landing on a beach once again, almost a century after Normandy.

Union Nazis of India would not survive democracy in Bengal.
