Pakistan Airforce (PAF) is going to add 63 fourth generation, indigenously built, JF-17 fighter jets to its fleet by the year 2022, a report revealed on Sunday.

JF-17, a Multi Combat Aircraft, is jointly built by Pakistan’s Aeronautical Complex and China’s Chengdu Aircraft Corporation.

As per the report, PAF is going to get 35 JF-17 Block 2 – the already existing JF series – and 28 JF-17 Block 3 aircraft – the fourth generation warplane- within the next four years.

The addition of Block 2 fighter planes will be completed by 2020 with PAF receiving 13 of the aircraft in 2019 and remaining by 2020.

The two countries are also jointly developing JF-17 Block 3, fourth-generation fighter jets which will be delivered to Pakistan Air Force by 2022.

The report suggests that China’s Chengdu Aircraft Corporation would deliver the first two JF-17 Block 3 jets and the remaining 26 would be made in Pakistan.

What the news? We all know that production of block 2 will continue until block 3 is ready. Also, block 3 mock-up will be build in 2019 and possible production/training/formal induction will be between 2020 to 2022.

It would be worth reading if PAF purchase J-10C or J-11xxx series.

It is news for the OP of course. :victory:

Any difference in airframe of block 3 did paf enhanced its range of flying and teacking and which new engine selected for blk 3

what this news mean by To ADD ????????????? Are we don't have them yet?????????????? What PAF is flying then ??????? I am confused .

This means 100 jf-17 blk2 in total then switch over to blk 3.

When i read the details in the attached link; a lot of bogus info at the end of the report.

Don't think Block-II will go beyond 62/68 for PAF, unless Block-III in large numbers is cost prohibitive and Block-II with Air-Cooled AESA makes better sense for PAF Procurement / Operations Cost.

Production line will not be closed..block 2 will be produced till b3 complete testing
