Nawaz Sharif pushing Pakistan back to 1999

hahaha, that wise man may have said that truth hurts those who are not willing to accept it. And it seems that somebody is not willing to accept that his commrades are every ready to jump into the laps of those sitting on throne of power through past, to date. :)

And who might be my comrades? What are you talking about? Blind love for Sharif brothers is really messing with you head.

What is wrong with serving government interests and improving domestic peace and security?

I'm all for placating unwieldy citizens to keep the peace. GOP should come to an ethical, lawful compromise that suits everyone.

But agreeing to turn a blind eye to inhumanity (not just against non-citizens either) and playing hand-in-hand with criminals, ultimately legitimizes the criminal and undermines the government. In the long run, it's just a matter of time until something else irks the criminal - but by then GOP will have even less authority than it has today.

There are practical downsides too. Quid pro quo with these people means allowing more and more extremists and foreigners to settle and strengthen on Pak territory. Just like they did in the old days - and if history repeats itself, i'd bet that the extremist will be better prepared next time.

My guess is that these negotiations are only to buy time, so nothing substantive.

If you belong to army family (yes we even have those too), or an ex-army person then hell yes you dislike Democracy....perks of being army in power are just too much to ignore.

even if NS makes Pakistan heaven these people will still be bad mouthing him...we ignore them so should you

Heh wrong, half of my family belongs to armed forces yet I want fair democracy instead of dictatorship so please don't blame every person who belong and is related to armed forces. nawaz sharif can't make Pakistan heavens not in a million years hell he couldn't turn punjab in paris what to talk of heavens/paradise with 6 times rule in Punjab and 3rd timers federally, so definitely all the bad mouthing is due and right.

PS. this nawaz that some people worship has multiple huge malls in saudi arabia, turkey, UK, europe, dubai yet he can't open cheap nawaz utility stores in Pakistan for common Pakistanis such as dollar store. Change is not roads, bringing taxis or stupid metro bus service...change is that poor people have food to eat, education schools/colleges, technical training schools, free medicine and treatment, low cost dwellings, clean water and alot of other things which mr. sharif is ignoring.

Its not nawaz sharif who needs some sense to be kicked in him .its the people who need to alter themselves with the example being right in front of them they decided to go for the same person again expecting better results.

He is an Ahmadi in exile in the UK. So, his comments are understandable. I have my sympathies for him, and no ill wishes.
Yeah I know him.He used an id named Pakistani Exile before (or have been using both). I recognize one from his/her posts.

You indian members don't know about Pakistani political parties, when they are not picked and voted out or army and judiciary throw them away next time they come back cheating using money and than they beat common citizens instead of those whom kicked them out. This is what zardari, nawaz benazir have done through out and mush might do that if by remotely if he ever get a chance. I am a neutral person but I think PTI of being a better political party but i myself am skeptical and think PTI can never come to power not atleast till 2023.

The Partial List of Civilian Posts taken over by Army Officials

Special SAT Report

ISLAMABAD: There can be numerous reasons why the Pakistan Army Generals would not transfer power to the elected representatives of the people of Pakistan. But one very obvious reason is the civilian positions of authority now under their clutches.

SAT has received from a contributor a list of over 85 such key positions where civilian experts, technocrats, academics, engineers, doctors, media persons, diplomats, civil servants, administrators and sportsmen should have been running the show, to the best of their ability and for the maximum benefit for the country.

But all these positions have been filled by serving or retired men in uniform; who already are either gainfully employed or have retired with full pensions, benefits and perks and have been re-employed depriving thousands of other more capable and deserving people.

This list is besides those armed forces personnel who have commercialized the names of their services and started business ventures like Fauji Foundation, Bahria Housing and Shaheen Air Services etc.

Thousands of others in lesser positions, who have been inducted under a quota system, have not yet been counted. But their presence makes it clear what stakes the army has developed in controlling the political system of the country.

The corporate face of the army also enjoys the full facilities and backing of the army establishment, whether their businesses run into profits or losses.

The 85 key positions identified by our contributor are given under. Some more additions have been made by our readers. A few corrections have also been made:

The List of Top Civilian Posts Grabbed by the Army

Lets keep religion out of this. The article itself is written by a Mush sympthizer or one who has had profit during dictatorships. Regardless, the current situation is much more fluid than given. Nawaz Sharif may be consolidating power but that all depends on his advisory panel. in 99 it was Saif-ur-Rehman and others that sank him, perhaps if he takes too many idiots on board he will sink again.
However, it is better to be done democratically. The Current situation with the Taliban may very well be a way to buy time to stabilize the economy before plunging again into the sureshot chaos that is to follow any operation.

Musharraf is only reaping what he sowed, nothing less, nothing more. However, I feel that he has been humiliated enough and should be allowed to leave. This will not only show NS as the bigger man, but really what can you accomplish with a 70 something publicly humiliated retired general. Let him go see his mother.
