What's new

Mid-level Officers of Bangladesh Army are Bringing down Changes Soon

1. That is a ridiculous thing to say. Units are located for reasons of logistics, availability of training facility, accommodation, etc. Only the Dhaka Brigade is tasked with the protection of the capital in peace time. The RWP Corps of PA and a similar USMC formation around Washington DC are tasked similarly.

2. In spite of the political situation in BD, our armed forces are very professional. We definitely are proud to have the best Officer Corps in SA. Like any properly organized defense forces, ours are also bound by stringent chain of command and mily discipline.

What I said is true, and i got this info from government people in the high ranks of the army and the government itself.

Awami regime is so paranoid now that they cannot trust Bangladesh army SSF and PGR (Presidential Guard Regiment). Awami regime is creating a new battalion strength force to guard PM and President. This article on mid level officers sure has some truth otherwise Awami regime would not be so paranoid.

While Awami regime PM and President gets security boost, people of Bangladesh living in fear of being abducted and killed, or getting beaten by Awami League terror outfit.

Bangladesh boosts security for president, PM

Bangladesh is set to raise a specially trained police battalion to provide security to the president and the prime minister and other VIPs alongside the existing other forces, officials said in Dhaka yesterday.
“The proposed force will be called Security and Protection Battalion (SPB) to provide security to VVIPs, visiting VVIPs and other important persons. It will be headed by an official having the rank of the additional inspector general of police,” officials familiar with the process said.
The home ministry has issued a circular in this regard.
“The process of forming the SPB has started immediately after issuance of the circular. It will take some time to complete the whole process regarding formation of the battalion,” Assistant Inspector General Atiqur Rahman said.
The battalion members would act as the “second line of defence” alongside the Special Security Force (SSF) and the President Guard Regiment (PGR).
The battalion members would be deployed at the President’s Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office and the official residence of the Prime Minister called Ganobhaban.
It will also engage its members to ensure security of the visiting heads of state and government.
The strength of the SPB will be 1,112 with an additional inspector general of police at the top. Temporary office of the SPB will be set up at the police headquarters in Dhaka.
Three officials of the rank of deputy inspector general (DIG), three police superintendents, 25 additional police superintendents and 30 assistant police superintendents will also be included in the SPB as per the circular.

Conspiracy against Bangladesh Army?

by Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury
January 4, 2012

Prior to the general election in 2008, only son of the current Prime Minister wrote an article jointly with another writer at Harvard University newsletter, where he commented that Bangladesh Army is filled with "Islamists" most of whom are joining the army from madrassa education. There had also been series of propaganda against the Forces Intelligence [known as DGFI] as well as Rapid Action Battalion [RAB], while there had been series of "voices" and "lobbying" in the West demanding dismantling DGFI as well as RAB. Since Bangladesh Awami League came in power with sweeping majority in the election of December 28, 2008, a number of ruling party leaders, including Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, MP; Suranjit Sen Gupta, MP, Abdul Jalil etc are seen raising voice against army through their self-styled hate speech, portraying the Bangladesh Army as "power mongers", "culprits" and "enemy of democracy". It may be mentioned here that, after a military backed interim government came in power on January 11, 2007, most of the mentioned politicians were booked on corruption and nepotism charges.

Following the bloody mutiny, which took place inside the head quarters of Bangladesh Riffles [now renamed], where 73 army officers were brutally murdered, while members of their families humiliated, several leaders of the ruling party and even opposition went into visibly syndicated propaganda against Bangladesh Army.

But in recent days, such conspiracy against Bangladesh Army seems to have reached at the pick. There is also information about certain quarters, spreading wrong information about Bangladesh Army and other law enforcing agencies, within United Nations, which possibly is aimed at defaming these institutions. As result of such heinous attempt, several international organizations have even issued statements against DGFI and Bangladesh Army.

During first week of November 2011, an email was circulated by someone named Robert Barrows. This email was titled as "Massive Corruption in DGFI". Content of the email, attached in PDF format was containing information on one of the top most officials of the Forces Intelligence. The entire email was specifically aligned towards defaming that top most official, thus terming him as an "Islamist agent".

Few weeks later, another email was again circulated from Australia and sent to various newspapers in Bangladesh, with the request of publishing the content of the email. While no newspaper in Bangladesh showed interest in such strange email statement, a vernacular daily with heavy Islamist affiliation carried front page report on the contents of this questioned email.

In the front-page report, the vernacular daily said, Bangladesh Army has already restricted entrance of journalists within the garrison areas and the reporters of that daily newspaper failed to enter the cantonment area to verify the contents of the email. The vernacular daily also claimed that it contacted Inter Service Press Relations [ISPR] office to check the contents of the email, while numerous calls from them were ignored by the director of ISPR and later they were told that, ISPR was unable to make any comment on this issue and suggested the newspaper to contact Army Headquarters of Forces Intelligence for checking any such information.

The report titled 'Doubts centering Major Zia' said that, a 'Statement' has been issued on Facebook and via emails by one Major Ziaul Huq aka Major Zia, who claims to be an officer from 41 long course of Bangladesh Military Academy. It said, reporters of the vernacular daily wanted to visit the described official residence of the sender of the email, while they were kept waiting at the 'gate' and later were told that, entrance of the reporters within garrison area is restricted.

The newspaper carried the translated version of the entire email and at the end of the report, it quoted an ex army officer Barrister Sarwar Hossain, who hinted that two army officers were held inside the cantonment area for weeks, without any specific allegation. He said, according to Army Act of 1952 [Section 75], court martial should be formed within 8 days of arresting any of the army officers or members of the Armed Forces. Barrister Sarwar Hossain was quoted by the vernacular daily saying, these army officers were arrested on July 9, 2011 and July 12, 2011 while they were on duty.

He further said, these two army officers are kept into custody for more than 150 days without any 'evidence' or 'charges'.

The Major Zia email and the message from the mid level officers are not the first products of this secret group operating from within the army.
Could the Maj.Zia's citation be true and Mid Officer's one was fake? Would it be illogical to think that such hedge (Read the Mid Offs. one) was deliverately created to thwart any possible fall out of Zia's divulging of criminal infiltration of RAW in BD-MIL? After all, cyanide pill was made legal for criminal intelligent agents but not the trade off of their secrecies, especially if they were about to be caught.

You are probably right. The Major Zia email is likely true while the Mid Officer's one is a fake one but the information contained in the latter was likely obtained from interrogations indicated in the former one. This is of course a risky tactic by RAW/DGFI as their covert activities are exposed by their own hand.

Khaleda's remarks on army provocative: ISPR

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has dismissed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's remarks that the government is abducting army personnel as provocative, unwarranted and false.

ISPR in a press statement on Tuesday described the remarks of the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament as an ill attempt to destroy the image of army and to create anarchy.

"The nation does not expect such false, provocative and senseless comments from a person sitting in a responsible post of leader of the opposition," the statement added.

While addressing a rally in Chittagong on Monday, Khaleda accused the government of subservience to India and said “They want to destroy the army to turn Bangladesh into a vassal of India. We have won independence not to become a state of another country. We'd rather be India's neighbour on the basis of mutual respect.”

The ISPR statement said the army is operated under specific rules and regulations. Action is taken if anyone is found breaching the rules and regulations. "There is no scope to spread confusion."

"The army would not be destroyed if anyone faces disciplinary action. Rather, it becomes more disciplined and professional and stronger force," it added.

Terming the Bangladesh Army as a national institution, the ISPR seeks cooperation from all to protect the goodwill and image of the force.

This appears to be the DGFI version of events in English -

Recently Army auth uncovered an ill initiative taken by some retd and few serving offrs have prob into Army in radical religious line.
When the retd offr app to some serving Offrs in various Fmns. The approached offrs spontaneously reviled their initiative to the higher commander through chain of command. AHQ is investigating the matter as per Army rules and regulations.

Maj Zia`s name came in number of the statements of the offrs. Accordingly Army auth (AHQ) attached him with Log Area HQ for his statement on the subj allegation raised against him.

Maj Zia did not report to his place of attachment as per order rather he fled away without informing any body which he did twice previously in his service carrier and was punished for those un auth absences in the year of 2000.

The allegations are under investigation. To my understanding he is afraid of facing the facts and truth. The story of his abduction is unfounded. If he is abducted, then the question comes how can he is free to use interment and Mobile phone to send his own story and upload in the internet. Let him join his place of attachment and prove that he was not involved in allegation that rose against him.
Let us not comment any thing not knowing the full story and pl help Army Auth to find the facts. Pl indulges the unwanted Discussion which will harm our beloved org.
Allah to save our country and our Army from the conspirators and liars.
