MI-35 deal between Moscow And Islamabad politically approved!

I think it would had been better if PA had opted for MI28 Havocs first rather than going for MI35 because of old dying Cobras.

Pakistan has broken the back of these terrorists without these Hellies, Pakistan need those for the hidden enemy who is behind these criminals.

Dont know who is hidden enemy. But if you meant us then you are absolutely mistaken.According to our GoI MI 35 is outdated for our use .That is why we selected Apache for that purpose. And our LCH is more than enough for any operation in future.
A few MI 35 is not an issue for us.

i've always wondered why/how Dawn news manages to capture more enthusiastic indians than Pakistanis themselves

quite the habit of theirs, to comment on Pakistani publications

(peddling rubbish)

Hi,

Isn't Geo, Dawn and Jang owned by the same company.

Well he didn't mention why India diversified from Russia ?
1>Spare issue
2>Huge quality issue
3>Non compliance with the TOT eg T90 Smooth bore barrel TOT was not transferred
4>Plays Monopoly and always throw a spanner during up gradation eg: T90 again ,it stopped DRDO to upgrade it.
5>Sudden cost hike in between the deal.
6>Long delays in delivery
7>DRDO raised its indigenization from 30% to 40-45% .

russian after sales service is a genuine issue but russia is now trying to consolidate its factories and improve its deliverability...

Run Talibunnies Run...!!!

Russians already helped us establish an overhauling, maintenance facility for MI series helis in Pak...

You dont have any idea about their maintenance cost.Su30MKI once a 200 crore fighter is now have more than 400 crore because of its expensedue to maintenance.
Dont worry you will get that in near future since you inducted their platform.

For COIN the Mi-35 is the best option and the newest variant has the high altitude performance limitations solved.

At the moment Cobras have to provide escort for Mi-17s and Bell-412s. With the Mi-35 you wont need an escort gunship, so military planners will have more flexibility. Also it shares components with the Mi-17 so forward field maintenance will be easier. So other than the armed Black Hawk variant which the Mi-35 exceeds it has no alternative.

Using a dedicated anti armor gunship against militants would be overkill and too expensive to run so because of Pakistan's unique terrorist problem it will need to field two types of gunships for the most cost effective long run solution.

1. Medium tech easy to maintain for use against terrorists (Priority) - AH-1F, Mi-35, T-129A etc
2. High end anti armour with electronic warfare and countermeasures for use against a conventional enemy - T-129B/C, WZ-10, AH-1Z & Mi-28 etc

So the Mi-35 is not PAs Cobra replacement it is in fact a complimenting helicopter to offer more capabilities. The Cobra replacement is yet to be decided.

One of the reason why they get pissed off during MMRCA competition.Their Life cycle cost was quite high compare to others and they knew this hence they tried back door diplomacy. Here's the recent news regarding MANPAD competition.

The Russians have been fielding their Igla variant, already in service in the Indian Army. Also in competition are the European company MBDA, which is fielding the Mistral VSHORAD and Sweden’s Saab which has offered the RBS-70 NG system.Several rounds of trials have been carried out, so far. In May 2012, trials were held at the Mahajan range, in which the Russians managed to score only a single hit out of four. Again during sea trials, the Russian system managed only a single hit out of two. Rosoboronexport was allowed to repeat the Mahajan trials in winter of 2012, in which it managed all four hits. But its sight failed during high altitude trials, following which they were asked to modify their sight’s lens, receiver metrics and software.
Having persisted in the competition, they were invited to try again this summer at the Mahajan range.

Indian evaluators asked them to demonstrate firing of their system in high temperatures at Mahajan by August 15 this year, to demonstrate the functionality of the modified sight. As it turned out, everybody except the Russians showed up.

Instead, Rosoboronexport wrote to the Indian evaluators saying that they did not feel it necessary to conduct another demonstration of their system.

Yes you are right. They are really pissed off.Russians were also successful in bribing our officials and except missile development other fields were fucked up.
But sudden emergence of Indian Economy and influence clout began to reduce Russians leverage in our market.
When we intiaite MMRCA program and Transport aircrafts purchasing.GoI gave a full nod for our officials and IAF for open tender and purchasing world best system because now money is not an issue to us.But two decades ago this was not the case. But Russians realized it after after a series of losing deals.
Andin addition to this irritation they began to delay their delivery and sky rocketing their expense .And IN was really pissed off due to their stupidity during INS Viky.
In fact they should blame themselves.
And Russians hands are again tied up.They cant provoke us again because they know they will loose their market again.
Chinese are already began to grabbing developing nations arms market and nations like India and other nations are independent or allies of the west.
Sanctions limited the room of the Russian businees freedom.
Hectic negotiation from Indian side for 50% workshare of the FGFA is result of that limitation .

these are being specifically procured for our western borders and for war against terrorism. The cheaper prices, rugged machine and loads of firepower and most importantly, a multi-role capability with the possibility to transport and deploy 8 to 10 fully armed troops are some reasons of its preference over the Mi28 Havoc.Mi35 will provided a much cherished additional transport capability that is very important in the kind of warfare we are engaged in against TTP.

This is not intended to be a next generation high end attack helicopter procurement meant to be the front line fighter in a war scenario rather it is a value for money deal with system that is more then capable of delivering what will be asked of it, to perform in war on terror. I hope we can get a decent number and get them quickly.

depends on the signing of agreement....once signed, the delivery lead-time is not too long.

well well we need those heli right now as we are fighting a deadly fight in NW , the what will be the purpose once the ops are over ?? or may be terrorist runs to Afghanistan ?!
we need them and we need aSAP
