News is coming out that a Jordanian F-16 part of the American coalition against ISIS has gone down in ISIS territory with its pilot captured: BBC News - Islamic State 'shoots down coalition plane in Syria'

Islamic State (IS) militants have shot down a US-led coalition warplane over northern Syria, activists say.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the aircraft, believed to be from an Arab state, went down near Raqqa.

The UK-based group said the fate of the pilot was unknown, but IS supporters published photos they said showed a Jordanian airman surrounded by gunmen.

Jordan is one of four Arab countries whose aircraft have been bombing IS positions in Syria since September.

The **** !

With what did ISIS shoot down the plane ?

and did they actually shoot it down, or was there malfunction and resultant pilot ejection ?

Poor pilot. The savage animals must be playing with him right now. Bad PR for Jordanian Air force.

Though the animals might be lying too. It is also possible that it was a mechanical failure. F-16 has only one engine, so if it flames out irretrievably, the pilot would have no choice but to eject and become a toy at the hand of these animals or to go down along with his machine and die.

Apparently he was shot down by a shoulder fired FN-6 missile. He was flying too low. Now they are going to use this pilot as a scare tactic for coalition air force pilots most likely. Sad news.

I feel bad for him now
He should have gone down with the plane

Saw the pictures of the captured pilot at the hands of the animals. Very bad. Gut wrenching. They were playing with him, as if he was a chicken to be slaughtered. Bloodied nose and all. So sad. It is a black day in military aviation. The pilot looked pretty young. In his early 20's and looked so distressed and extremely scared.

Every pilot should bring a light weapon while operating on Syria and Iraq.

That light weapon will not get the pilot that far. Only makes the animals more angry. In the pictures, there are so many of these animals surrounding the pilot. And the pilot looks petite compared to these filthy animals. He was no match even if had a heavy machine gun. You could see the most extreme form of human fear in the eyes of the pilot while the animals were pushing him around in the pictures. I think he should not have ejected. He should have instead gone down with his one-engined bird.

BBC reporting it. It is reliable enough. Pictures of the pilot are on the internet.
