JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

I must say that 1) that's an over kill but yeah depends upon scenario and separate mission profile and 2) the one on thunder seems to be different like tailor made having multirole capability absorbed in 1 small Pod. Just saying.

You are correct, the one on the Thunder us a KG600 comparable to the KG700 as fitted onto the J-10 C, whereas the JH-7A carries two larger KG800 pods.

Should be our next jet to supplement the F16s especially since rafales have come and stealth project is atleast a decade or so away.

2-3 Sqd for now sufficient.

J10C is a beauty indeed.

Since JF-17 is now approximately similar to Gripen E in capability still PAF need J-10C?
I know J-10 is a very capable aircraft but we want to see JF-17 despite of being a Light aircraft, to have the same punch as J-10C got.

The load out is a little issue with JF-17 and radar — J10 can help fill the gap.

Jeff will be never able to pack the same punch as J-10 in air to ground roles.

Thank you for the post and nice to see you around. I agree that J10C is the answer to the Delta replacement but the timing is the question. Its utility and need has been supported by @BilalKhan777 as well. I think we may start negotiations in 2022/23for delivery around 25/26. The reason is PAF has programme in place to support the Mirages till 2025 and the Horus if they arrive will be testament to the continuity of the legacy of the Mirages. PAF has never bought anything without asking for some PAF specific changes. Lastly there will be time to fulfill local demand as there is a need locally. I still think the WS10s are not being produced in enough numbers to fulfill local demand so it will take time. The period will allow PAF to induct block 3 and evaluate it. So it will also provide PAF to actually assess the maturity of the WS series.

The need of J10C may be right now, if Pakistan start contract now, the J10C will arrive after the induction JF-17 III. Will not it take the momentum away from JF-17 III? Or will J10C induction at that time have true justification?

Since Rafale is nuclear capable, Pakistan also needs a squadron of brand new medium-weight nuclear capable fighter aircraft to match it.

Forcing the light-weight JF-17s to carry nukes instead of concentrating on intercepting, escorting and fighting is not ideal because that's not what it's designed for.

I think with PL15 mounted on,, it will be a solid hi platform in the hi lo combo with JFT. However to say the JFT does not pack a punch is not true. It is the ideal platform for our arena.

Please read my post again, I said that Jeff will never be able to pack the same punch as J-10 in air to ground roles. I never doubted Jeff's air to air capabilities, in fact I believe that block 3 will surpass block 52 in air to air role.

We have Mirages for delivering nukes. Also I believe India will employ Rafale for air superiority and escort roles rather than delivery missions. Different jets have different mission specifications.

You guys want Thunder to run cap missions, air-to-air combat, escort, payload delivery? Anything left? Maybe next we will hoping for Thunder to participate in undersea warfare as well.

This is kinda wrong. The JF-17 carries a significantly better air to ground compliment than the J-10. The J-10 has some serious catching up to do. The JF-17 can make up for the lack of pylons by carrying superior munitions.

All those munitions can be easily integrated on the J-10. If Jeff is so good for air to ground then why is it incapable of replacing the mirages?
