In any case, it is true that the US Navy's anti-mine capability is below par when compared to its overall strength. That is why all US carriers have SH-60F tailored for the anti-mine job, HH-60H transition model and received the MH-60S since 2001 now being upgraded with the ALMDS ( 2014 ).
This means that a capability gap may remain with say the French MN that has dedicated minesweepers that the USN should never have abandoned as recognized by its brass, but this is not quite as woeful as it was in the 1980's showing an adaptation to the incident mentioned. Adaptive response, one of the basis of strategic preparedness, is thus taking place.
Besides, chances are that if a full-fledged conflict occurred in the PG region, the US allies ( Belgium and the Netherlands also have modern CMT minesweepers for instance ) would provide a lease/allied integration of the capacity or some would be acquired through an off-the-shelf fast track procurement.

The above is for information purposes and does not mean that I think Iran has not cannot deploy quality sea mines.

So first of all you admit that you cooperated with Saddam in Iran-Iraq war which as you mentioned cost hundreds of thousands of Iranian lives along with Iraqis , you should be ashamed of that noting could justify and whitewash such an action whatsoever.
