Indian Propoganda or the real aim of Pakistan?

We will want to see Sri Lankan army win since our influence has obviously been spread over them. As you mentioned a Tamil would always be sympathetic towards the LTTE, and Tamils are Indians. The rest of your country cannot support Sri Lankan army because of the Tamils. So effectively they lose influence over them.

It's all too reminiscent of why the Taliban were supported. Once SL wins, we get a sway over them. The fight has gone on for long under Indian supervision. I imagine an airbase for a rainy day on Sri Lanka would prove to be quite useful.

I know, I know its all still a longshot. But we are not helping the Lankans "aiwai", of course.

Let's see if you see Pak getting close with Oman and Yemen in the future, expect Pak to be looking into the logistics issue.

Logically Pakistani strategists should already be considering surrounding India somehow. All these nations have some or the other issue with India and seem to be improving their ties with Pak. Bangladesh is all chummy now, Lanka too. Perhaps the relgion card can be played with Maldives as well.

ASIM what are u man a conspiracy theorist or what.. go right a noverl..lon...(no hard feeings eh)..

I had clearly ststed in my previous posts that tamils in India are neither sympathetic nor opposed to LTTE.. Thay have just stopped thinking and talking about that conflict...Our government cannot sell weapons because of tamil political parties in the cabinet and so we are allowing you to supply them.. Yor so called influence ends there.....that is it.. Just dream on if u say that SL will help Pakistan to surround India.. BE REALISTIC MAN... Those SL's first come begging to us for support and we did them a favour by banning togers.....IF SUPPLYING WEAPONS MEANS SO MUCH TO YOU..then even China your major ally remains passive when you seek weapons form their enemy America.. bu then who has greater infuence on you country .. the answer is simple China... similarly whatever SL wants it has no other way but just to stand by us and listen to us........Suppose SL gives you an airbase or a naval base then put it simply everyone will start agian supporting ltte..think about this India will simply wreck havock with SL... LTTE is weak because it dosen't receive support form India and SL knows that very welll .. so it is upto them to humour us and stand by us....\

If u still persist in your conspiracy theory then just go on on and on

Al Khalids?

To my knowledge we just sold the bombs and some of them were Duds.

Dude, none of them were dude's theirs this guy I believe on an Indian news service names M Rama Rao who made this report, and that same oen was published by Pakistani papers, etc. The little "child" journalist provided no proof what so ever to back his claims up and was throwing out bogus and random numbers, before he made that bogus article about dud's he was ranting on about Pakistan stealing India's market, etc, and so much Anti-Pakistan hate, just take those articles with a pinch of salt, he made bogus claims once of us getting fuses from Ukraine and giving them to SL  , that shows the credability of that guy.

Below is the link of the paper the guy works for, every article you see about the Duds can be traced to here, and another site, he works for:

http://www.syndicatefeatures.com/home.asp?cat=headlines&nam=pakistan

Also, to prove my point just read this Sri Lankas new's article talking about Rama Rao and his rants, in reply to that bogus dud article (click on link and go all the way down to read Rao's dud article as well):

Conjectured Links Between Pakistan And The LTTE Run From The Sublime To The Ridiculous.
Insight by Sunil Kumara for LankaWeb
Jan.4th 2007

There re too many "what ifs", maybe's, whys, whereforers and perhapses to lend any great credibility to this item presented by Indian news Journalist M.Rama Rao. Here are the reasons why! The very essence of this news item written by one who is considered a satirist beyond being dubious whose sense of news reporting often goes from the sublime to the ridiculous at best in the international news media over how he concocts bits an pieces of information to put together what seems a juicy story to some readers in order to make it worthwhile reading has done it again!

M.Rama Rao a notorious rabble rouser on the many sensitive issues between India and Pakistan has chosen to document with hardly any credible evidence beyond hearsay and conjecture to support it>He has had the affront to speak out as though it was gospel on a very sensitive issue linking Pakistan to the LTTE Terrorists which the world should interpret as blatant innuendo, mythical and perhaps a figment of the writer's imagination with very little credible evidence.

The very caption of his recent document from Madhya Pradesh in the Journal ~ Central Chronicle which is an Indian publication which says "Pakistan makes a killing in arms supplies to desperate Sri Lanka" says it all. While there is absolutely no need for Pakistan to make a killing in being supportive of Sri Lanka's war against terrorism which is a Global Issue, neither is Sri Lanka that desperate for weapons with many global suppliers other than India ever ready to meet the requirement at short notice where it is obviously being hinted that Sri Lanka by virtue of India's hesitancy to support Sri Lanka militarily on the current issue of terrorism seems desperate and totally inaccurate.

To further moot the issue that the terms' killing' and 'desperation' have been taken out of context by the writer, not only has there been a long standing co-operation by Pakistan toward's Sri Lanka's terrorist issue relating to the LTTE, openly unlike India who hedges on the issue with a reluctance to displease her Tamil Nadu terrorist sympathisers, there is also that open ended congeniality between the two Nations which has existed for generations where Pakistan has made no bones about her willingness to aid Sri Lanka at any time of distress and for anyone to make an accusation that Pakistan has links to the LTTE even if it relates in some degree to Indo Pakistan hostilities, seems totally out of whack where Rao probably needs psychiatric evaluation!

For Pakistan to be as duplicitous as to have close ties with Sri Lanka while also maintaining a clandestine connection with the LTTE sound ludicrous and a load of rubbish where India would be the more likely candidate for such an accusation having done it in the past. It is a well known fact that India was indeed in collaboration and helping the LTTE cause until the late Hon.Rajive Gandi former Prime Minister of India was assassinated by the LTTE. Perhaps Rao should put his money where his mouth is on this issue or keep it closed rather than attract humorous international attention to his daydreaming!

The statistics relative to the finances of Sri Lanka's Arms Procurement Plan as well as the monies said to be invested and returns expected by Pakistan seem grossly distorted being classified information which both the Governments of Sri Lanka as well as Pakistan would hardlty reveal to a fairy tale writer such as Rao for obvious reasons so where did he get his facts and figures one might ask if he is not someone at the higher echelon of any defense strategy to whome accurate intelligence would be passed on notwithstanding India's ineligibility to this privilege in these particular circumstances!!

One ponders upon the real need and urgency if it is not beyond being mere conjecturial propaganda for the source he favours at best to flavour the content of this document and must certainly leave the President of Sri Lanka, the leaders of the SL armed forces and the Sri Lankan Nation collectively apalled that such fabrications as these so blatantly created by this reprobate of a journalist who always seems to dabble in topics beyond his scope are broadcast in a climate where the realities seem to be easily distinguishable from the innuendos and lies yet sensitive enough to raise wanton eyebrows!

The topic of Geo-Politics as Pakistan's motive is an age old theme drawing cross references to the Indo - Pakistani hostilities which go back to the time of separation and the formation of the two great nations of India and Pakistan where the hostilities based on religion and ethnic divide have sadly prevailed over human compassion and the need to integrate. Perhaps Mr.Rao should take up the cause rather than attempting to create further rifts between the two great nations at a time when many conciliatory moves are being made by India and Pakistan to resolve many differences and using Sri Lanka as the pawn in a deadly game of chess he has chosen to initiate which could also have dire repercussions to his credibility as a Journalist!

Tamil Tiger rebels said Sunday that their aircraft bombed a fuel refinery and gas storage facility in response to a Sri Lankan air force attack near their stronghold.

The Sri Lankan military did not officially confirm the bombings other than to say that the air defense system was activated and anti-aircraft guns were fired.

"We are doing some air missions, we are investigating ," Air Force spokesman Group Capt. Ajantha Silva said.

However, a military official who witnessed the rebel attack said he saw a low-flying plane drop two bombs on a gas storage facility in Kerawalapitiya, about six miles north of Colombo. The bombs started a fire, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to talk to the media.

The extent of damage was not immediately known.

The attack knocked out power to the entire capital, as well as the country's only international airport and an adjoining air force base. Many people were awake watching Sri Lanka's cricket team play Australia in the World Cup final on television.

Rasiah Ilanthirayan, a rebel spokesman, said the Tamil aircraft bombed two facilities that supply fuel to the Sri Lankan air force. "The two squadrons returned safely after the mission and the pilots have confirmed that they have hit the targets," he said by phone from the Tamil Tiger stronghold of Kilinochchi in northern Sri Lanka.

An hour before the rebel attack, Sri Lankan air force planes bombed a location near Kilinochchi, Ilanthirayan said, adding that details on the damage were unavailable.

Last Tuesday, rebels used their new air wing to bomb military positions in the northern Jaffna peninsula, killing six soldiers. The planes did not reach their intended target - a military base that serves as the operational headquarters in the fight against the guerrillas.

A month earlier, the Tigers carried out their first-ever airstrike on an air force base near the capital, killing at least three airmen.

Sri Lanka's separatist conflict flared in 1983 when separatist rebels started fighting for an independent homeland for the country's 3.1 million ethnic minority Tamils, who complain of discrimination by the majority Sinhalese.

If you go to the first page of the thread and read the source it will tell you,

"According to a report in Jane's Defense Weekly, Sri Lanka had given Pakistan a shopping list of weaponry worth about US$60 million. While the army's list was pegged at about $20 million, that of the Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) was said to be worth about $38.1 million. A recent Stratfor report says Pakistan sold 22 Al-Khalid tanks to Sri Lanka in a deal worth some $110 million."

This point.

Is/Was Sri lanka the 1st country to purchase Al-khalids from Pak.

Is/Was Sri lanka the 1st country to purchase Al-khalids from Pak.

Well this is something to point out; Malaysia was very interested in the Al-Khalid I believe they probably bought some this is a speculation so I could be wrong but I believe the first country who bought Al-Khalid was Malaysia btw the defence export news from Pakistan is really hush hush so this my speculation.

However, it is confirmed that Al-Khalid are operating in Sri Lanka.

Thats already a discussed and written about deal.

You need to keep in mind the recent success of Sl was made with assive heklp of Pakistan and Indian Navy patrols in BOB. Without which they wouldnt have been able to do any squat. Earlier they were good at Sea conducting suicide attacks at Sea. When IN started patrolling they started doing air raids not one but three.

It's all too reminiscent of why the Taliban were supported. Once SL wins, we get a sway over them. The fight has gone on for long under Indian supervision. I imagine an airbase for a rainy day on Sri Lanka would prove to be quite useful..

Well the moment we feel SL is going to win and thats going to give Pakistan any sort of advanatge vis-a-vis India, you will see IN turing a blind eye and inturn re enforcements arriving in plenty for the LTTE.

What issue does SL have with India?
What issue does B'desh have with India?
What issue does M'dives have with India?

And how does Pakistan fit in? Pakistan can only fill in if India leaves a gap. But the initiative is with India to leave or not leave any space.

AK Anthony the defence minister has said India is going to offer military help to Sl to stop the LTTE air attacks.

Everyone lefts the gap and india also do the same Kashmir , Assam , NagaLand , Tibet and many more .
