Indian Censorship reaction: Cover up of internal failures

Then we can start with banning private news channels and be DD be the sole provider of news in this country.

Again I ask you why should the whole nation suffer for the problems of a few?

How is the nation suffereing by blocking Pak sites or sites emanating from Pak ?

Unless these sites are ' helping ' them.

Defence.pk was blocked according to some of our Indian members here. Who bypassed the blockade to report it to us.

Which immediately tells me how honest this blockade really is.
Is it just me or has D O T blocked defence.pk? I'm getting "this URL is blocked by D O T" message while trying to open in mobile, I'll post a screenshot once I figure out the way to take screenshot from mobile.

I'm browsing in office now which is routed through United States ISP, which is working fine.
No one bypassed the blockade.....most of the businesses have leased lines which don't come under the D.O.T obligations of blocking content.

PS- I wasn't even aware that df.pk was blocked before reading that thread!

Never mind the logic, we'll discuss this later.

Pls explain how does the nation suffer if Pak sites are blocked ???

If not blocking , what else do you expect GOI to do ? Launch the Prithvi missile on their IP addresses ?

I am allergic to censorship for whatever reasons it may be.

I am allergic to censorship for whatever reasons it may be.

If this is the only reason for dissent then GOI has done the right thing.

Pls understand we do not live in an equal world. Grant the powers that be for doing what is necessary.

For them .. they are dammed if they do & they are damned if they do not.

In such a case it is better to do and be damned.

Whats more disturbing is that the so called liberal journalists are supporting this censorship? May be they are afraid of the 'internet hindus'.

I support this censorship..

Being a Muslim , I have seen many of my friends sharing this morphed photos on Facebook and it just went viral ..
Some good thing that government did was banning some sites and applying 5 SMS per day rule

And btw the counter riots were seen in Mumbai , Lucknow where almost every person is accustomed to using Facebook .. So internet did play a role

Government is not banning websites of opposition parties .. So comparing us with China is pretty childish in my opinion

GoI needs to address the problem rather than shifting blame on Pakistan, in an attempt to unite the populace. Banning the websites is not an efficient tool either since the ban can easily be overridden through proxies.

Pakistan is always made a scapegoat in India and vice versa in Pakistan , we can't change it .. :P

Very few people know how to use proxies .. Chinese are expert in that , we aren't :(

Illiterates are present every in society .. Even some kar sevaks tore down Babri masjid ..
No logic could explain that or terrorism or NE violence

Now that everything is linked back to Babri Masjid, I think we can all happily sweep all the dirt under the carpet and go to sleep. If that fails also there is always Gujurat. Anyways its not 'illiterates' its just reatrds thats the problem that too educated ones, after all India got divided based on the whims and fancies of educated ones not illiterates.

I wonder what Pakistanis have to say about this:

Pakistan residents slam suspension of mobile phone services

Karachi: The decision to suspend mobile phone services hit millions of people celebrating Eid on Sunday — it not only affected shopping sprees but paralysed everyday life, the residents of Pakistan’s four major cities complained on Monday.
Mobile phone services were put on hold on Sunday evening after the federal interior ministry decided to suspended the service to prevent any terrorist attacks on mass Eid congregations.
More than half a dozen phone companies suspended their services in Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Quetta on the orders of Rahman Malek, the interior minister when families were out for Eid shopping.
“We were at the same shopping mall but my wife and kids were somewhere else and we could not catch up with each other till morning,” said Faisal Khan. “It freaked me out and ruined all the happiness of Eid as the experience was quite traumatic,” he said.

Millions of people also could not send Eid greetings to their friends and families. Almost 60 per cent of the country’s population now use mobile phones as they have become cheaper.
The decision to suspend the service came after intelligence reports indicated a terrorist attack possibly on shopping centres or on Eid congregations. The remote device could be used to detonate the bomb, the reported suspected.
However, people said that snatching away an essential service because of a vague threat was not a solution.
“It is certainly a weird action on the part of the government at the expense of millions of people who suffered at shopping centres, at hospitals, at varying locations,” said Nida Kirmani, a sociologist.
Malek apologised for the inconvenience caused. The services were not restored until Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf called on people to reject “extremist trends” and “negative propaganda of misguided elements” and promote the Islamic teaching of tolerance.
Zardari, in his message to the nation on Eid Al Fitr, said a society developed on such lines would be helpful in resolving the issues of extremism and violence, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported on Monday.
‘Hub of peace’
People need to shun hatred, animosity, greed and malice, and instead promote love and affinity, tolerance, generosity and endurance, Zardari said.
He said recent incidents of shootings by militants on buses, and other acts of sectarian violence were against the teachings of Islam.
Zardari said the terrorist attack in Kamra in Punjab province was foiled by the courage and valour of the country’s armed forces.
Ashraf also urged the nation to work towards making Pakistan “a hub of peace” by refraining from anti-social activities.
“Eid Al Fitr is a day of peace, tranquility and harmony. Let us resolve to dedicate ourselves to spend our energies and resources for the welfare of humanity in accordance with Islamic teachings,” Ashraf said.

If the messages and pictures were uploaded abroad why the India government is so apprehensive of? Let it manage its own house in order and install strictest vigilance especially in minority inhabited areas and other sleeper cells. After all, sheer heating doesn't hatch a chicken from an egg. It is the egg that contains in it the life of chicken and requires only outside 'incubation'.

Who brought immigrants and made assam as muslim test laboratory?? pakistan
Who threatened NE students to flee and to propagate message? pakistan

Who is afraid and hiding the news from whole country about the assam?? GOI or pakistan

so why the fk blame is on pakistan?

I have been saying again n again that pakistan is made as scape goat for every failure of our govt.

Sometimes govt do bomb blast to divert the media attention from some typical political issue and govt blame paksitan for it..

like they blamed U.S for anna hazare and we chutiya people of india believe watever non sense our govt says to us...

so open ur eyes n see the devil inside in the govt who makes us fool...

i wrote same post a week back and indian poster called as AbingdonBoy was bashing me...

so GOVT in center i.e congress is responsible for this mess and for face saving they are blaming pakistan coz they know that ppl will forget as usual like they did in past..and govt will get their self out of this mess :)

This one of those stereotypical jokes that go on the internet that Indians blame Pakistan for the weirdest of things. I mean imagine that, blaming a forum thread. On a public forum people sometimes get away posting fake news, but other people can also go and correct it. Banning is like hiding your head down for all the real problems.

This is not just India, a few years ago after the Cartoon controversy, Pakistan government banned youtube and facebook for a few days - I raised holy hell at that occurrence too. Only where messages of violence are propagated by the owners of the website should be banned.

No one bypassed the blockade.....most of the businesses have leased lines which don't come under the D.O.T obligations of blocking content.

Well, I'm not entirely sure how EVERYONE is accessing it, but some people said they used certain methods to come here (I'm not posting those methods as I would respect the laws of India and not help them bypass a ban, but I would raise my voice to lift a ban).

Shareef aadmi k ooper ghalat ilzaam lagay toh woh fight back karta hai, thats what I am doing.

Never mind the logic, we'll discuss this later.

Dude, I'll ask you this much, you've been with us since 2008, when have we as an organization supported any such thing about creating chaos and mayhem in India? We only discuss matters and discussion should not be mistaken about active offensive of inflicting physical harm.

From the narrative its not just Pak sites, its others too, mostly Pakistani sites have been blocked. But I'm not arguing for all 250, I'm arguing for just mine (although in the broader narrative against internet censorship I'm arguing against any and all blanket internet censorship).

I sincerely hope all those facing blockade would write to their ISPs to lift this ban and if any content needs our attention, they should approach through official channels and email: "webmaster@defence.pk".

I will say that we indians are brainwashed wrt pakistan upto many extent.Same goes in pakistan too wrt india,we ppl have habit to make other as devil.
You as admin should know that many people consider this website as source of info and they post it on other forum too.

Well in india, blaming pakistan for every mess is cheap source for making public fool and govt have been successful in doing so till now but many of us like me or others get the blame who says smthing else..and it happened a week back..
