India to supply ammunition to Bangladesh

Dear, just because we have a defense pact with China does not mean China is going to annex us or something. Every country needs a relationship or some sort when it comes to military. India for example has Russia as its ally. Same story with Bangladesh with the Chinese.

@ Who told you that we have a defence pact with China ??? If we can make that then India will --------!!!!!!!!!

If u can make that then India will-- what????
We give a sh*t to those chinks.....????? We have started oil exploration in South China Sea.....what could those chinks do to stop us.....who claim SCS to be their property......except rattle around......

don't talk rubbish we helped you alot to become Independent country... and you turned in favor of china and causing insurgency in NE.

The Nagas had declared independence from the British a day before India became independent. The official status of the Nagas with the British was a cease-fire. The Nagas and all NE are fighting the Indians who they openly call invaders/foreigners. NE insurgency had started right from the beginning.

heard of Netaji subhas chandra bose......it was due to the fact that Netaji came through the NE with the azad hind fauz that nagas are a part of india now........according to u Burma was also controlled by the british, then burma also would have been the part of india........

@ In 1971, once war was going on the whole Mizu Brigade along with Brig Laldenga was stationed at Rangamati and helped the Pakistani Forces.

@ Once the Indian forces started marching inside East Pakistan on November 1971, many sabotage activities were conducted by the Nagas in the border areas. The Indian thought that it was made by the Pakistani Razakars but later on they realised that it was Nagas. General Niazi used to sponsor the Nagas even during his critical times.

@ In 1948, the Queen of Tripura even came to East Pakistan for her annexation to East Pakistan but Jinnah did not agreed as he was too busy in Kashmir. Once India annexed Tripura forcely in 1949 soon TNB or something like that revolted and still they are fighting for their independance.

China, Bangladesh sign landmark defence pact - The Times of India

But as soon as the political scenario of Bangladesh changed in 1975, the new government adopted a more proactive and independent foreign policy and felt the need to discontinue the clauses of '25 year friendship treaty' that were detrimental to national security. So, the defense budget saw a sharp increase and a new source of military hardware was found in the shape of China. The Chinese government was able to supply military hardware that were soundingly reasonable and whose technological sophistication was suitable for a newly independent nation, with a destroyed economy from following India's socialist economy. In the meantime, Soviet Union closed its door to Bangladesh. So, with its fragile economy, Bangladesh became totally dependent on China for reliable weapons.
The new government upgraded 5 existing brigades to full divisions with Chinese weapons and training. New workshops were built across the country for the repair and maintenance of the weapons. High level military delegations, along with political leaders, made frequent visits to each others' countries to consolidate the new and promising relations between the two Asian nations.
Since then, China has been Bangladesh's closest defense ally and the military coopertation between the two nations has reached the tactical level and there is much scope to elevate it to the strategic level for the benefit of both the nations. The Chinese political and military leaders being well aware ofBangladesh's unique central geographic location and sea ports have given her strategic importance in South and South East Asian context, fully supported it. Bangladesh and China have signed a defense cooperation agreement in 2002 and 2004 to broaden the scope of military relations between the two allies.

While you're busy fighting over irrelevant, idiotic, age old issues the rest of the world lives comfortably and peacefully. Please, carry on. The rest of us don't have to worry about open sewers, beggars and animals running around our neighborhoods. Maybe in a century or two the Chinese will build a modern city in BD. In the mean time keep fighting the dalal Indians, screw economic cooperation and a peaceful coexistence.

To be frank, your post was pretty irrelevant and misinformed itself.

There are still many outstanding issues between India and Bangladesh. And frankly, I am not seeing that commitment on both sides.

Includes spares for APCs and artillery. Nothing too big.

I agree with your post.

@ How come India can supply the spares of APC and Artillery ? Have we bought all these equpments from India ?

@ Even India does not have the capability to supply the small arms ammunition. How come ? We uses 7.62 mm ammunition and NATO series ammunition for G-3 rifle. Even USA itself cannot supply the 7.62 mm ammunition for Chinese rifle. These can be supplied only by China, Pakistan, Russia and Socialist countries which have the facility.

@ Why we will bring SA ammunition from India ? Rather we are producing surplus .

cause AMMUNITION is the only thing that india can produce LOL:yahoo:

@ Zabanya, Defense Cooperation Agreement and Defence Pact is not the same thing.

@ These sort of arms dealing we can make with any country. Once we make a defence pact like the SEATO, CENTO, NATO and other bi-lateral defence pact.

@ In the defence pact there is an special clause in case of third party aggression what would be the role of agreeing party ????????

@ I still have a doubt even Pakistan has made any Defence Pact with China or not ???

@ These ammunition is for 7.62 mm SLR. We donnot use those rifles, LMG or machine guns. These ammunition can't be used in the Chinese rifle though the calibre is the same.

@ Who has taught you to give this sort of opinion ? You are still kid playing with the vidio games. You are just behaving like my son who is always busy in playing war games.

Taking care of them costs money. But then, it is very well a political decision rather than a practical one.

The G-3 uses 7.62x51mm NATO rounds. We have been making them ever since the Pakistan era. I don't think the Indians use it.

I don't know exactly what kind of ammunition the Indians are going provide. Army and GoB are never transparent with anything.

@ Why we will bring SA ammunition from India ? Rather we are producing surplus .

Again, this has more to do with politics than practicality. Of that, there is no doubt.

@ Zabanya, Defense Cooperation Agreement and Defence Pact is not the same thing.

Agreed.

SEATO and CENTO are no more my friend.

@ In the defence pact there is an special clause in case of third party aggression what would be the role of agreeing party ????????

Yup. And there is potential for China.

They are allies. Although, this relationship makes the USA uncomfortable. ALL American politicians are scared $hit of China.

Theoretically, it would have been best for Bangladesh to remain neutral between the two future super powers it is sandwiched between. But due to weak leadership, political instability and uncertainty for the people, this isn't happening. The country always had massive loopholes in its national security.
