India Considers Buying 126 Eurofighters From Germany

Deal cannot be less than 15 billion now in any case looking at our currency and adjusting for inflation.
Even in 2012 it was pegged at 12 billion

U are discounting the tot aspect here.
Thats the most important purpose of this deal.

Are saudis getting extensive tot??

The best resort was to buy phase 1 pakfa which will enter production in 2016 with older 117 engine generating 147 kn thrust and with new fadec control.

Then post 2020 we could have got phase 2 engines with 180 kn each.
Rest of the money could have been diverted to lca mk1 and 2.

But at the time we were growing at 9% and never thought we would be cash strapped so soon:lol::lol::lol:

no.
but my numbers might be wrong for 2014. in same article it talks about UAE deal for 60 Typhoons for 6 billion pounds not working out. so clearly the price has increased substanially since KSA made the deal for 72 Typhoons.

Unwieldy Eurofighter consortium, each of whose constituent countries can politically pressurize India in the future. Too much risk. Eurofighter is fit only for NATO countries fighting NATO's wars.

Yes and especially uk is a threat being pet usa poodle.
And after russian sanctions we better be careful

See,,,this article is bogous then
Simply said the price diff between ef and rafale should be minimal if tot is also factored in

yeah. ToT big part of deal with Rafale and is worth it.
but how much is Dassault/France going to make from this deal?
giving up ToT on one of the most advance jet's out there you would have to make a healthy profit no less than 5 billion.

France might be having second thoughts over this and is escalating the price.

French will be stupid to do that.
We quite simply have too many options at this time.....................if not this then EF.

The worst case scenario is mig-35 but if we use pakfa's avionics in that,,,it would be fairly potent too, never on rafale's level but quite good.

And we still have option of f-16in and f-18,gripen..................

While Eurofighter Consortium has had some success with half a dozen operators, the French are still desperate for an export launch customer for their Rafael. India could have squeezed out a very favourable deal but then the Rafael may not be all it's hyped out by some...... after all, under ideal circumstances, PAF did evaluated and rejected the French fighter. !!

most of the Rafales are being built in India
doesn't Dassault kinda like invest half of the money back into India??

Mig 35 is alright.
who know's if you bought them Russia would of gave you ToT on it's engines and radar.

Yes i think offset clause says 50 percent.

But tot is a farce,u actually gain zilch, only they teach u how to assemble it in house so during wartime etc we can make it quickly in house.
On tech level we gain absolutely 0

so wait you can't build it from scratch??
you don't gain the expertise and equipment to fabricate the parts??
and source code and what not

We would be able to make the frame but what about radar, irst, spectra, jammers, engines??
We will get nothing in that..................that stuff will be a closely guarded secret.

But we will get source code of radar

German Foreign minister had talks on monday regarding MMRCA and is believed to have made an offer based on future deals associated with aerospace industry. Present government is not happy with Dassault over a number of issues including some allegations made by swamy earlier and the lack of clarity and lack of concessions in various ToT related issues.

Or this could trigger a rethink on Dassaults part to relax on concerns made by the Indian side. Already there was some news regarding closing the deal by Airforce spokespersons . There would be still a final hurdle which has yet to be dealt with and Dassault might have kept its stand which has opened the gate for EU consortium.

The drama might take a new turn but still .....all's well that ends well.
