What's new

If India attack Bangladesh, what options BAF have to defend and reply back in same manner ?

First, the possibility of overt war is extremely low.

In terms of Conventional war- Bangladesh will lose within 5 hours, given the current state of military. Air force and navy will capitulate within 5 hours.

But, BD will resort to guerilla warfare. Bangladesh military doctrine has always been defensive and suited for guerilla warfare. We don't have the luxury of being an aggressor. It will be another Afghanistan and Vietnam, and India will face the same fate as US, over the long run.

Although both countries have had some border disputes and some skirmishes with one taking place in 2001 during which several Indian BSF personal were killed, however with Sheikh Haseena in power and most if not all opposition in jail, there's little chance of any conflict since the Bangladeshi leader only practices pro Indian policy.

BAF will be wiped out, but Bangladesh can easily arm its population and make it impossible to occupy the country like in 1971. They can also invoke Jihadist and Bengali ethnonationalist sentiments across the greater Bengal region and bring the war into India (West Bengal).

The Bangladeshi conventional forces will not be at a massive disadvantage like the Pakistani Eastern Command, because they will enjoy the full support of the local population, and the country will not be plunged into a civil war. So they could use Bangladesh's defendable geography to their advantage and even launch offensives into Shiliguri/NE India as Pakistan initially planned to do so in 1971.

However, in a long war India will eventually defeat the Bangladeshi regular army and then it will have to face an insurgency 100x worse than Kashmir.

Wah Wah. Such wonderful fantasies.
As I said you might as well talk about a war between Canada and USA or Australia and New Zealand

i still didnt get an elaborate answer of my question. even if its hypothetical for now, there should be a question for this scenario.

all respected members who are saying chances of conflict is very low and it wont happen.
i can bet there will be a conflict between both of them in a decade or so, if bhajpa stays for a decade.
even if its like 27 feb.

Ironically, the 2001 border clash happened when Sheikh Hasina was in power.
But you are right, unlikely to see a repeat of such now because of political stance. Plus the complicated border issues have been resolved.

Our border forces did take out one of the bsf goons couple of years back. The drunkard was extorting Bangladeshi villagers. That's what the BSF is good at, killing and extorting civilians. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nd...gladesh-guards-at-bengal-border-2118464/amp/1

Bangladesh faces real threat of covert ops and infiltration from India, rather than overt war. War will not happen.

skirmishes with one taking place in 2001

20 years ago since then several border agreements designating the boundaries have been signed. There are NO MAJOR DISPUTES regarding the border between India and Bangladesh.
Every border dispute have been settled with NEGOTIATIONS and not weapons.

Bangladeshi leader only practices pro Indian policy.

You whine about her being pro-India after trying to kill her and her family through your proxies. You imprison her Father for winning an election and you wonder why she might be level headed enough to know who are friends and who are foes of Bangladesh

respectable members plz dont bring the past, as we are in 2022. talk about now and future planning of BAF.

BAF is in coma.

In case of any future war with India, BAF will not last 5 hours. Just not enough fighters and SAMs to defend against a stronger foe.

If BAF does buy a squadron of 4.5+ gen fighters and set up a multi layered potent SAM system, things will look brighter. It will be sufficient to deter any aggressor. However, planning is nothing if there is no execution. Right now, BAF is failing royally on that front.

Well, no doubt you will drag in irrelevant issues and banter to try to make a point.....Sheikh Haseena was also the PM back in 1997 when she visited Pakistan to honour it's Golden Jubilee...wonder why didn't she remember your version of history back then or started hanging all the old Islamic activists. Why suddenly now she finds Indian shoulder to cry on.

tag some more Bangladeshi brothers you know here.

This will never happen since India has won in convincing Bangladeshi people that India is their most trusted friend

A picture says a thousand words.....

The Muslim Army in the East Bengal has already surrendered.....

Similarly, the Muslim Armies in the Hijaz, Baghdad, Sham, the Maghrib, the Blakans etc. have already surrendered....

Pakistan already got even with USSR for breaking East Pakistan. We broke and drained USSR financially in Afghanistan and broke it in 15 pieces. Alhamdolillah

Bangladesh's poverty is biggest deterrence. Why would India want to add at least 100 million more bhukhay nangay? If Bangladesh was a mineral rich country with small population phir khatra tha
Well the same could be said for cow piss and cow dung. It's not exactly the optimal source of vitamins and minerals!

But they do it anyway!
