IAF grounds Sukhoi till ‘precautionary checks’ over

Overall record is good, but recent record is bad and alarming two aircrafts crashed in 2009 and one in 2011 thats 3 crashes in 3 years. Two of them were assembled by HAL and if this trend continues SU-30MKI is future Mig-21.:smokin:

I hope SU-30MKI will remain ground for the period of one month or more until crash investigations complete.

Oh please, there is no relation between the crashes in 2009 and this one, not even to HAL since it wasn't any technical reasons during the production, so please stop trolling!

Amazing how many expert pilots and engineers Pakistan produces that hang on these forums-unfortunately they are still not able to read an article and comprehend it well. Let me try to explain it to them...

Imagine you have a car and in the car you have a handbrake switch near you elbow. Now imagine that sometimes when to turn your car to the left or right, your elbow hits that switch and it jams the car up.

That's what two out three cashes were attributed to...a design issue that is fixable. It was not because it was a grave issue or because it was made in india. Now the current grounding is a safety protocol used by every modern air force(s), in the world.

crash is crash... it means driver is incompetent as he don't have control on him self

^^ that's a damn shame. Must be a hard sight for the pilots of this beast to see, as they are assigned birds and as such form a very real bond with them.

Anyway, considering the amount of hours the IAF fly on these things and how hard they fly them it truly is a testament to the beast's strength and IAF maintenance facilities that the safety record is so impressive for the MKI. Even the USAF commented on the impressive readiness levels the IAF were able to maintain at Red Flag.

Incredibly complex machines that go wrong from time to time. There is a reason the first thing fighter pilots do when entering the cockpit is strap themselves into the ejection seat. Best thing is both pilots were able to walk away from this and no one was hurt on the ground thanks to the heroic actions of the men in the cockpit.
