Reacting to the recent spate of attacks against Hindus in Bangladesh, lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar asked how the nation's prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, could allow such incidents to happen under her watch.

Javed Akhtar said that those who are "trying to crush a vulnerable minority are bullies, cowards and sick communalists".

He took to Twitter to express himself. He wrote, "What is happening in Bangladesh is a matter of great shame. Those who are trying to crush a vulnerable minority are bullies cowards and sick communalists. How can Sheikh Hasina, who is known for secular values, let this happen under her watch."

Earlier on Monday, Bangladeshi-Swedish writer Taslima Nasreen slammed Bangladesh Prime MinisterSheikh Hasina over the ongoing violence against the Hindu community in the country.

She wrote on Twitter, "Last night in Pirganj, Rangpur, Bangladesh. Two Hindu villages were burnt down by jihadis. Hasina was playing flute."

ANTI-HINDU VIOLENCE IN BANGLADESH

On Sunday, a group of assailants reportedly vandalised at least 66 homes and torched 20 homes of Hindus in Bangladesh over an allegedly blasphemous social media post. There were no immediate reports of casualties. The police have arrested 52 suspects in the case while the search for other suspects is underway.

Earlier this week, three people were killed in an attack on a Durga Puja pandal near Nanuar Dighi lake in Bangladesh's Cumilla. Violence had erupted after news spread on social media that the Quran was allegedly desecrated at a Durga Puja pandal.

This was followed by incidents of vandalism at temples in Chandpur’s Hajiganj, Chattogram’s Banshkhali and Cox’s Bazar's Pekua, according to reports.

On Friday last week, at least 500-strong mob vandalised an ISKCON temple in Noakhali area and attacked devotees. One devotee was allegedly killed by the mob.

SHEIKH HASINA'S WARNING

Following the spate of communal attacks, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave a stern warningon Thursday to “bad elements” who are trying to "disturb communal harmony". She promised that action will be taken against the perpetrators of communal violence in Cumilla.

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also said it is in contact with the Bangladesh government. Bangladesh has assured India that the situation is under control.

I agree with him. Religious majoritarianism or political majoritarianism and their consequent big and small oppressions should not exist, whether they be in Bangladesh or in India or USA.

Crap happens.... Subcontinent remains filled with idiots whose aliance to their religion seems to lead to a loss of common sense.

I am unaware of anyone in BD who condones this. Hindus are a minority but to me that is irrelevant. They are BD citizens thus must have exactly the same rights as anyone else and this means right to carry on with their religious events as they see fit.

It is also irrelevant also who is in power. The GoB must ensure tough response against all who have created and aggrevated this situation without any reference to their religion, class or political affiliation.

Agree. India and Indians have no locus standii to comment on this matter. This is purely an internal matter of BD.

So, get rid of your two TERMITE laws and everything will fall in line. Ask Modi not to worry about what the termites do on the other side of the border.

When the 10℅ minority is supported by the billion hindu majority next door to change the country's identity, then this will happen. You see rats posing as bangladeshis and saying hinduism is their "culture" lolz. They misbehave with our holly book. What else did these rats expect? Not just this, they kill muslims in their own country, terming them as bengalis. Its evident they actually want to subdue bengalis. Bengalis should crush any remnants of hindu culture and put them in their place.

Did he ever utter the following words for his fascist Hindu thugs who rule India?

Javed Akhtar said that those who are "trying to crush a vulnerable minority are bullies, cowards and sick communalists".

He is a worst kind of hypocrite, he came out to condemn the violence in BD, because he has to protect his life, livelyhood, and property. Renouncing or condemning Islam, and Pakistan is part of the initiation to be allowed to live in fascist Hindu India, that is until the next incident, whereby they have to renew their pledge, and prove their loyalty once again to their Hindu masters. An unending vicious cycle that can end in either capitulation and conversion to Hinduism, or fight back for whatever they desire in that sh** hole. The Muslims of India won't be allowed the present status quo for long, where they are humiliated and bullied on daily basis, but are barely allowed to live like slaves. The toxic ground realities laid down by the fascist, RSS, BJP terrorists will eventually result in the mass pogrom of indian Muslims. Indians know it well, that nobody will stop them. Muslim countries will only pay lip service, and few half hearted condemnations, and then business as usual with fascists hindus

Mm no. NRC is mandated by Supreme Court especially in states like Assam. The petitioners are Assamese muslims who wants the mess resolved. CAA is not going either unless he want to lose elections.
I think he was talking about CAA NRC

We apologize for killing tens of thousands of Hindus in broad daylight and making the genocide mastermind our current PM. Sorry world.
