ISLAMABAD: The mastermind behind the terrorist plot to attack the Pakistan Parliament was arrested in Okara by law enforcement agencies on Sunday.
The arrested suspect, Saadullah is a former Special Services Group (SSG) commando, which is the elite wing of the armed forces of Pakistan.
The plot to attack the Parliament was foiled by the law enforcement agencies on October 8 this year.
The police had arrested four suspects and seized four suicide jackets, plenty of hand grenades and other explosive material from them. Saadullah was arrested through intelligence provided by the suspects arrested earlier.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has not issued any statement in this regard.

Horrible news. Proof that SSG has been infiltrated with radicals. In the past we had IIlyas Kashmiri who was also a SSG commando and leader of HUJI. Terrorists infiltrating into security establishment is not only a grave threat to Pakistan but to the region as well. Hope Pakistan takes serious action on these radicals and help promote peace in the region.

On a side note, is the security of Pak's nuclear complex under the SSG?

Terrorists infiltrating into security establishment is not only a grave threat to Pakistan but to the region as well. he is not the first one arrested since joining WoT, like the rest of the society there have been elements within the retired military community that were not happy with Pakistan's support of American War on terror and these SSG personal like Pak Army are part of the Pakistani population.

what is good is that the damage has been kept under control and such elements that have been actively supporting terrorists are being constantly hunted.

the Attack on the SSG personal after Lal Masjid operation suggested an inside job too because there were at least 2 SSG guys who refused to take part in the operation.

ranting, sarcasm and trolling aside, this is a known problem which Pakistan army acknowledges and is constantly keeping a vigil on its current personal. there is no 100% guarantee to avoid such possibility.
the rouge soldiers that turn their guns to their comrades is not confined to Pakistan the reasons can be different but the results are same, they damage the institution and they cause chaos.

examples of ANA soldiers killing fellow Afghans and Nato soldiers, and Indian soldiers in Kashmir turning their guns on their fellows due to depression and not getting leave and so forth.

The retired SSG soldiers are normally employed by Pakistans ultra rich elite and large companies to provide personal and private security. Any cash strapped ex-solider who has some sympathies towards violent Islamists or a blanket objection to Pakistan’s support of WoT is an easy recruit by the Islamist terrorists.

Intelligence agencies already realised that danger long time ago and such people have been removed from forces quietly and its process is ongoing. All Ex-special forces personal regardless of their ranks are under constant watch whatever their political views.

The war with no end continues.

Kashmiri had been a commando in the elite Special Services Group (SSG), the special operations unit trained by Britain's Special Air Service. In the early 1990s, Kashmiri was ordered to join the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, and later he was urged to join the Jaish-e-Mohammed. From The News:
Very few people know that Ilyas Kashmiri was a former SSG commando of Pakistan Army. He was originally from Kotli area of Azad Kashmir. He was deputed by Pakistan Army to train the Afghan Mujahideen fighting against the Russian Army in mid-80s. He was an expert of mines supplied to Afghan Mujahideen by the US. He lost one eye during the Jihad against Russian invaders and later on he joined Harkat-e-Jihad-e-Islami of Maulvi Nabi Muhammadi.

and if those guys were sharing the terorrist ideology then the nukes would have already gone by now.

I didnt know Illyas Kashmiri was SSG. what was his parent regiment? the SSG personal are picked up from regular forces after the recommendation of their COs. I hope you are not talking from the neither regions?

if we go by this logic then all Afhgan Mujahideeen trained by CIA and ISI were SSG commandos.
