One of the major peace time tasks of the Pakistan armed forces is to assist the civilian government in times of natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods. Pakistan is facing major floods for the 4th consecutive year and the armed forces are leading the rescue efforts from chitral down to the plains of Punjab and the low lying abadis of Sindh province. If additional storage facilities would be available like Kalabagh dam the poor people of Pakistan would not have to face the ignominy of losing their kirth and kin every year. This clearly shows the indifference, inefficiency and complete ignorance of the government's and its institutions towards the helpless poor population of the rural areas. It is quite shameful that we boast about being a nuclear power but we cannot take permanent preventive measures against such clamaties esp floods knowing very well that heavy rains in the catchment areas of the north coupled with monsoon season will play havoc with the lives of millions of pakistanis every year.
The basic idea of this thread is to showcase the efforts of our armed forces in rescue and rehabilitation efforts during such times.
