Five gas blast victims from minority community evicted from PIMS - thenews.com.pk

ISLAMABAD: Five severely burnt children of a poor Christian family, all under the age of 10 years, were thrown out of Burns Centre (BC) of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) by the administration on a freezing morning in the federal capital simply because they were children of lesser god.

Five severely burnt victims of gas blast, were pushed out of the building of Burns Centre of PIMS, saying that they had no bed for the victims, while the fact is that they had no influence to get themselves admitted for treatment.

The head of Burns Centre, instead of fearing God himself tried to realise this scribe not to invite the curse of God by asking questions about the ill-fated family who have jumped out of the frying pan into the fire.

Six members of a Christian family — Rehana, 25, wife of Irfan Masih, her four children, Yousaf Irfan, 7, Angelina Irfan, 4, Aman Irfan, 5, two-year-old Dime and 10-year-old Neha belonging to Dhoke Chaudharian, Chaklala Scheme-III, Rawal- pindi — were wounded critically and scorched severely when fire erupted in a room of the house in Dhoke Chaudharian, due to gas blast at about 3:30 a.m. due to gas leakage and short circuiting.

The victim family members were shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital in critical condition, but the hospital administration, keeping in view of gravity of the injuries, referred them to the Burns Centre of PIMS for effective treatment, but the administration of the Burns Centre, straightaway refused to provide them medical aid and pushed out the five seriously injured children, saying that they have no space to entertain them and referred them back to the BBH for treatment, the heirs of the victim maintained, adding, however, they admitted Rehana in the hospital who was over 80% burnt.

“We came to the Burns Centre of the PIMS at about 7 am and the injured children remained under the open sky and kept requesting to provide medical aid,” he said adding that some children sustained over 60 per cent burn injuries. This correspondent when contacted the In-charge of PIMS Burn Centre Professor Dr. Tariq Mehmood said that the Burn Centre was under serious pressure having no space to admit the victims.

He held that an emergency has been imposed in the Burns Centre, without specifying for what reason and he categorically stated that he was not responsible for treating patients coming from other areas. To oblige the victim party, Dr. Tariq said he allowed admission of a woman of the family and remaining were referred back to BBH, as he has no room for them. Executive Director (ED) PIMS, Professor Dr. Riaz Waraich could not be contacted.

They should emigrate to some nice western country. I'm sure there are plenty of nations that would give visas to such oppressed Christians.

Really? You mean Indians can't post news about Pakistan here? Is it only about Indians or other nationalities too who can't post anything to do with Pakistan? Does this forum belong to your daddy-o that you can impose your nonsensical rules as and when you like?

I think you forgot your early morning fix before posting this crap! :P

Sucks because these people will move away from Pakistan, Pakistani Christians are one the most educated people in Pakistan.

The hospital did not have enough beds to accommodate more patients (burn victims increase in winter), and some hotshot labels it as a conspiracy against Christians and minorities!!!

Could simply be a case of not having enough beds in the hospital and this family not having enough influence to ensure they get some.

The paper trying to needlessly bring in a religious angle.
