Farnborough Air Show 2012 – Day 4 highlights

Went there today, was a bit soaking in the beginning, but awesome then!

Best was when the South Korean T50 opened up the afterburner and every kid started crying. LOL

Yup I was there on Friday and Saturday,Americans picked up on me because of my beard lol we had a long discussion on Islam and Afghan war which prolonged for an hour and 5 minutes :D I was surprised to see how they agreed to my point that they cannot win Afghanistan and must leave,Nice chaps all of them but with sarcastic tones :P

However I got a chance to put my hands on their F/A-18F Super Hornet/F-16CJ Block 50/F-15E Strike Eagle,I got to see the cockpit of C-17 Globemaster some good shots of HUD and an unforgettable experience of M346 Eurofighter simulator :D It was not for public viewing but the Italian guy let me in :P

Amazing day indeed,I will post pics soon.

Virgin galactic..The Spaceship for Paying space tourists...Goes to 450,000 feet..Initially slung under a weird looking twin chassy aircraft upto 40,000 feet then rocket powered to 450,000 feet..and then glides back down.

The twin chassy Launching system for virgin Galactic...In this configuration you see a rocket in the middle, this is a satellite launching vehicle...The space ship is slung in this place when being used for space tourism..

A380 on satic display..It did a flying display and i was surprised how agile the plane is,despite the huge size.

V-22 Osprey specs..A company representative was stood there and i asked him why they haven exported the plane, and he complained about the strict export regulations of USA government, but said that they are trying and yesterday Libyan Air chief came to see it.

V-22 Osprey on static..I went inside with a US marine who was a nice chap, but obviously didnt know much about the engineering aspect of the machine and most of my questions remained unanswered...

Note sensors and refueling probe

The side of Globemaster..

563487_3779384477921_1315160147_n.jpg

In the belly of the beast...Globemaster's inside..It had a full hydraulic control system, and a complete manual control system with wires and pullies running from the cockpit ti the wings and back of the plane..
I wonder how much manual power will be needed to operate the rudder manually if the hydraulics fail?
