The two countries are close to an agreement for the sale of twenty and two Rafale FREMM multi-mission frigates. Contracts estimated at between 5 and 6 billion.

It would be very good news early this year for manufacturers of French armament. France and Egypt are close to an agreement for the sale of two frigates FREMM multimission and twenty Rafale combat aircraft to the Egyptian army armed with MBDA missiles. According to reliable sources, a delegation of the Treasury visited Cairo early in the week to assess the security of Egypt in the event of an agreement with French manufacturers. And obviously the Egyptians have responded positively to the questions and especially the expectations of the French delegation. Especially that France has asked his side to Coface to make a new effort to facilitate the contract.

In the wake of the visit of the Treasury, the CEO of Dassault Aviation, Eric Trappier, DCNS, Hervé Guillou, and missile MBDA, Antoine Bouvier, were in Cairo on Thursday to advance an agreement with Egypt or finalize negotiations , according to several sources.Contracts could be signed soon if everything went according. Some observers sought a signature by the end of the month while others more cautious in a few weeks.

An Egyptian high-level visit to Paris

After the departure of December 19 of an Egyptian delegation of high level present in Paris for ten days, yet it was a very mixed feelings about the outcome of this visit. Some industrial questioned even on a bad remake of Morocco when France had lost a contract captive Rafale. For the Egyptian delegation left without a formal agreement on the funding it was nevertheless picked in Paris 23 Rafale and two multimission FREMM frigates. Either a transaction valued between 5 and 6 billion. Arriving in France, the delegation had nevertheless aim to conclude. That was certainly the wish of the Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who had come on official visit to Paris in late November.

If Egypt became the first customer of the Rafale, it coifferait the winning post Qatar and India, where security problems appliances remain. Even if you have to stay in this type of careful negotiations, very careful. It is undeniable the Rafale is in fashion now, but it remains to Dassault Aviation to sign the famous first contract as expected. One thing is sure Cairo is devilishly interested in the Rafale (between 23 and 26 combat aircraft, according to sources interviewed). A contract valued at 3.6 billion euros.

Good news !
Hope we will sign it soon..

Egypt wants a non-US fighter plane. Probably a Gulf state is paying for these fighters. So they are freeby for Egypt.

how can Egypt afford all these new toys with such a crappy economy?

Egypt's GDP (nominal) is almost 4 times bigger than Azerbaijan's.

The Egyptian military budget is also 2 times bigger than Azerbaijan's.

The Egyptian economy is on the rise and several economic reforms have been initiated as far as I remember. One should not underestimate them.

Another option is the neighboring GCC helping finance part of the deal. That's just guesses though. The Egyptian military was never shy when it came to necessary expenditure.

Without offending any Egyptian brother then the military in Egypt has played a unifying role in the country and is of great importance. Sometimes at the expense of other issues.

So? USA has a population 4 times smaller than India but an economy 8 times bigger. 5.5 million big Denmark has a 2 times bigger economy than 160 million big Bangladesh.
There are tons of such examples.

The point here is that Egypt should be able to afford this deal. "Shitty" economy or not. Read my entire post. You only quoted a small portion.

Egypt is paying for it, the deal is about 6 billion Euros, (about 7 billion USD) French Coface will fund half the amout, and Egypt will pay the other half.

From private sources, there will be 2 batches, the first batch will be 24 Rafale F3R , and the second batch will be an additional 24 Rafale F3R.

Total = 48 jets

Deliveries will begin within 6 months from now, that's too fast i know, but it's true, the Rafale jets in the production lines that are currently being built for France will be transferred to Egypt, because they are in a hurry, for a big Suez Canal opening show lol , France will also give their own 2 FREMM's to Egypt, one of them will be
delivered within 6-8 months from now (FREMM Normandy).

Looks like France fell in love with the Pharaoh :omghaha: :omghaha:

Because Egypt needs aircrafts and frigates as quick as possible.
(So.... it will take more time to our navy, because we will have to build 2 more freems... :p:
And build more rafales. :p: )

I thought the problem was with Das and their reluctance to back Hals eventual product as was agreed when the initial contract was signed?
But 23-26 for 3.6 billion Euro that insanely too much that't more than 200 million $ per plane unbelievably insane.

Sorry to say that but it's realye big number.

I think Indian will either pay 200 mil a piece or they should stick with the MKI.

Guys wait a second I think Iraq is helping don't get wondered Iraq is giving Egypt lots of oil and I think all that is for lower price so the Egyptians going to make some use of it.
