Domestic cricket should be reformed to bring new talent, says Imran Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday (Today) said that Pakistan has abundant cricket talent but needs to get rid of ‘sifarshi’ administration.

In a series of tweets, Imran Khan said that Pakistani cricket fans shouldn’t be disappointed as there is ‘abundant cricketing talent’ in Pakistan.

After Pakistan cricket team got clean sweep by Australia in tests, the former fast bowler put forward some propositions on twitter.

He suggested that domestic cricket structure should be reformed and restructured to allow the new talent to be polished.

Khan also tweeted that Pakistan has much more talented fast bowlers than India.

One thing is clear when Pakistan U19 or U20 teams play Australia , they perform at same level

However once the Youth player graduate and get into Domestic League structure , the grooming stops in Pakistan due to lack of Modern Scientific methods and training at Domestic level. While in places like Australia the players continue to work with "World Calibre" coaches , and training and fitness mentors. Their weakness and flaws are corrected and they play regularly on very competitve wickets

The same players who beat Pakistan in recent Test series might have lost several times to Pakistan Junior Team on regular basis.

PSL league does offers some exposure to the players however , the 20/20 cricket is very limited in scope and does not develops skills in defence and judgement which are crucial to Test and ODI.

With arrival of Biomechanical Labs , Australians have mastered the art of copying successful bowling methods and they use Science and technology to perfect bowling actions and also copy old successful styles.

During the recent test match they showed the bowling stance of one of new bowlers vs Glen Mac (retired cricketer) and suprising on side by side comparison the bowling action was 99.9% identical , such perfection in copying a style is only possible with high accuracy cameras , bio mechanical reviews (which they do and have tech and scientist for it)

The flaw in technique is so visible , that cricketers can't look back at placement of fielders to judge where the australians would be bowling next.

Absolutely right and agreed.
But PCB can't avail these as the whole structure is damn crap.

Well I think the way they can really move forward is by PSL keep it under PCB, very Important step as PCB needs money to Finance the Test Cricket League only possbile with PSL league money

• Use the money generated from it to make a 8 Team "Competitive League" for Test Cricket in Pakistan , the PCB contracted players in Central contract should be bound to play in this League

• Provincial Cricket 8 Teams they play for Pakistan League Title
  • Punjab 2 Teams
    
  • Sindh 2 Teams
    
  • KPK 2 Teams
    
  • Baluchistan 2 Teams

New format = 8 Team x (20 players each team + 7 Youth players)
(All players on Central Contract) , About 217 Players on Payroll

• 80 Pro Trainers , 10 Trainers per teams

• Teams should be asked to keep 7 Substitute mandatory Youth player in squad for grooming and on paid salary, to Rub shoulders with Pakistan's International Calibre players

When Pakistan's National Team is on official Tour, the Local League should continue , as the Young Substitute players are called up into League teams.


Time for League should be Afternoon and Night format as most Pakistanis would be able to attend night time matches, viewership would be a bit higher in evening matches

• Start time 3 PM in afternoon
• Dinner Break 7 pm instead of lunch break
  
• End of play time 11:00 PM night

• The 8 Teams should have fully funded "Coaching Staff" high quality Trainers / Physios
  
• Coach / Batting Coach / Fielding Coach / Bowling Coach / Fitness Trainers
• Any flaws in player's technique should be fixed in the Domestic League

Departmental Cricket should be Division 2 , None Pro Players , people who have no professional contract with PCB


Pakistan is really getting white washed for a reason by Australia and it is called Professionalism

the most Simple way to reform is to replace domestic cricket with PSL teams and every province if possible should have domestic leagues that should compete to come on top league which will be allowed to play PSL t20 and also the same teams should play one days also with 1 series of knockout day and night tests also.
