LAHORE - Following series of attacks on Chinese Consulate in Karachi and Chabahar, Iran, India has reportedly shifted commander BLA Aslam alias Achchu to Kandahar, Afghanistan.

“India is surely trying to distance itself from BLA,” Overseas Pakistani Baloch Unity’s founder Dr Jumma Khan Marri posted on his Facebook account on Sunday, adding that there were reports that India had shifted the BLA commander to Afghanistan.

According to Marri, it is an attempt by India to cover up its covert support to the BLA since it had also cancelled the so-called human rights conference planned to be held in New Delhi.

Previously a Baloch nationalist leader, Jumma Khan Marri had announced his dissociation from the Baloch separatists in February this year. He had then also launched an organisation, ‘Overseas Pakistani Baloch Community’ for the Baloch living abroad.

“Once again, I request all Baloch to wake up before it is too late... Soon you all will be dumped too by India. No one else is more sincere with you than Pakistan. Remember “United we stand, divided we fall”. Dr Jumma Khan posted on his Facebook account yesterday.

It may be recalled here that Dr Jumma had an important meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan last week in Moscow when the latter was on official visit to Russia.

Dr Marri had then also suggested that Pakistan government should make a formal demand with United Kingdom to stop providing safe haven to BLA’s commander Harbiyar Marri. While pledging to voice his concerns on this issue in the European Parliament as he had done earlier, Dr Marri had also asked the Pakistan government to raise this issue at the United Nations.

Dr Marri is hopeful that some prominent Baloch leaders would soon be joining the mainstream Pakistani politics by declaring disassociation with anti-Pakistani forces.

He says that his new organisation would confront and expose the evil designs of disgruntled Baloch leaders such as Brahamdagh Bugti, Mehran Marri and Harbiyar Marri who, according to him, are on the Indian payroll.

Dr Marri also has plans to bring back all the misguided and innocent Baloch living abroad on political asylum to the mainstream politics.

Wow his movements were recorded all the way in the thread. One post clearly mentioning that India transported him back to Afghanistan on Dec 10. And today there is substantial news that he has been eliminated.

Pakistan: China consulate attack planned in Afghanistan

Karachi Police Chief Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh during a media briefing on Friday said that the attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi was planned in Afghanistan and carried out with the assistance of Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

In November last year, three heavily armed militants attempted to enter the Chinese consulate in the ‘high security zone’ of Clifton’s Block-4 but were shot dead in an encounter with law enforcers. The gun-and-grenade assault also claimed the lives of two police officials and two visa applicants, and injured a private guard of the foreign mission. The banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed credit for the attack.

The additional inspector general of police disclosed that at least five facilitators have been arrested so far from Karachi, Hub and Quetta during the probe.

He said that based on the police's investigation, the attack was aimed at sabotaging the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and meant to create trouble between Pakistan and China. "They wanted China to believe that Karachi is not [a] safe [city]."

Sharing the details of the attack, he said that the trained terrorists had been observing the consulate and particularly its visa section for almost four months. "They used to sit in the visa section of the consulate to observe when the gates open and other details."

"They transported weapons in a boat engine from Quetta to Karachi through train service," he said, adding that the weapons and other material were dumped at a house in Baldia Town area of Karachi.

"The terrorists used fake computerised national identity cards," he said. "We are writing to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Pakistan Railways to upgrade their security mechanism so that the facilities of the railways and the National Database & Registration Authority (Nadra) are not abused by terrorists."

He shared several photographs "recovered from the cell phones of the terrorists". One of the facilitators was a cousin of Aslam alias Acho — the alleged mastermind of the attack — while another was the brother-in-law of another high-profile terrorist, who is considered to be the second to Acho, said Shaikh.

Shaikh added that there were reports that Acho and some other high-profile terrorists had been killed in an attack in Afghanistan but he refused to believe the news until and unless he "sees the bodies or any solid proof".

It is an old tactic of terrorists to get themselves declared 'killed' to divert the attention of law enforcement agencies, he added.

Consulate’s reconnaissance
Earlier, sources familiar with the proceedings of the investigation had told Dawn that one of the killed militants, Abdul Raziq, resident of Kharan, with his accomplice Abdul Latif, hailing from Khuzdar in Balochistan, had visited Karachi on Aug 6 also. They had both stayed at hotels in Lyari and Saddar and conducted reconnaissance of the consulate.

With the help of technology, it was also discovered that the killed militants had also stayed in Sindh’s two cities, Shahdadpur and Sukkur, before going back to Quetta. They returned to Karachi via Hub, Balochistan, on the night of Nov 23 and stayed for a while in the Shershah area of Karachi before launching the gun-and-grenade attack.

JIT interrogates terrorists involved in Chinese consulate attack
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Saturday obtained information from two of the five arrested terrorists in an ongoing investigation into the attack on the Chinese Consulate in Karachi on November 24 in 2018.

Reportedly, JIT officials moved to the Central Jail in Karachi and inquired from two terrorists namely Abdul Lateef and Arif, and found that Rs15 lakh were used to plan and launch the attack on the consulate.

The JIT has compiled an initial report according to the information acquired from the investigation and found that the amount was sent to the terrorists at different times and through different bank accounts.

To obtain information of those bank accounts, officials have sought assistance from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

However, the inquiry has found that the amount was transferred to an account holder with the name ‘Amanullah’, who was allegedly responsible for distributing the money which was used for the attack.

According to sources, the facilitator Amanullah died in Afghanistan.

One of the arrested terrorists Hashim aka Ahmad is the brother of the banned outfit Baluchistan Liberation Army’s (BLA) commander Sharif.

Earlier, the anti-terrorism court (ATC) ordered the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to compile and submit the investigation report on February 8 pertaining to the attack on the Chinese Consulate in Karachi.

The report which was earlier presented before the court mentioned ‘information’ regarding the killing of Aslam Acho, however, further states of having no confirmation or evidence.

Aslam Achoo ‘was’ a senior commander of the banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

The report further had stated that the flag of the BLA was recovered from the killed terrorists.

Later, Karachi Police Chief Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh, during a media briefing, claimed that the attack on the Chinese consulate was planned in Afghanistan, and executed with the support of the Indian intelligence agency - Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Terrorists spent Rs1m on Chinese consulate attack
The suspected facilitators of the Chinese consulate attack have revealed that as much as one million rupees was spent for carrying out the consulate attack, The News learnt on Saturday.

A joint investigation team (JIT) was constituted on January 19 to interrogate the five suspects arrested in connection with the Chinese consulate attack. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) SSP headed the JIT which comprised officials representing the Rangers, CTD, Special Branch and intelligence agencies.

Three terrorists had tried to storm the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi on the morning of November 23, 2018. However, they were intercepted by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in a timely manner and were killed before they could enter the building.

Two policemen and two visa applicants – a man and his son – were also killed in the terrorist attack.

Shortly after the attack, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed the responsibility of the attack via social media. The attackers had planned to fix the party’s flag on the consulate building.

Sources in the JIT informed The News that an amount of around Rs1 million was spent to facilitate and carry out the attack. They added that that the terrorists’ commander was a man named Amanullah who had also financed the attack. He was later killed in an attack in Afghanistan.

Various transactions were made on different dates from the account of Amanullah in Quetta and other locations to help carry out the attack, the JIT sources disclosed.

“Amanullah used to provide them [terrorists] funds through bank transactions and by hand,” said CTD official Mazhar Mashwani who was a part of the JIT. “They had been planning for the attack since August and during the four months [between August and November], they spent around Rs1 million for the transportation, logistic support, food and other areas.”

The five suspected facilitators involved in the terrorist attack were arrested in Karachi by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on January 11. Their arrests were revealed to media persons during a news conference held by Karachi Additional IG Dr Amir Shaikh who claimed that the BLA had carried out the terrorist attack with support from India and its plot was hatched up in Afghanistan.

Dr Shaikh also claimed that a man, Aslam, alias Achhu, was the mastermind of the attack, the purpose of which was to damage Pak-China relations.

The arrested suspects were identified as Abdul Latif, Hasnain, Arif, Hashim and Aslam. They were apprehended during a joint raid conducted by the Malir police, Special Security Unit of the police and intelligence agencies in Sadiq Baloch Goth in Taiser Town. The LEAs also claimed to have seized arms, hand grenades, rockets, explosive material and ammunition from their possession.

Two of the arrested suspects have also confessed to their crime in court while the remaining three were being interrogated until Saturday when there were sent to jail by an anti-terrorism court.
