Chinese coast guard opens fire on Vietnamese ship

It is absolutely astounding to me that some Western book writers like to spread propaganda. They claim China suffered heavier losses during the Sino-Vietnam War. This is a preposterous claim.

During World War II, the Nazi's used blitzkrieg or local superiority in firepower and inflicted an average of 3 Allied casualties for the death of every Nazi soldier.

However, when China employs the same advantages of heavy artillery and tank columns in Vietnam, the so-called Western military experts now claim the Vietnamese defenders (armed mostly with small guns only) inflicted heavier losses on the heavily mechanized PLA? That's hogwash and I call it anti-China propaganda.

All of the Sino-Vietnamese War battle videos have shown the application of classical military strategy by China against Vietnam. When Germans used classical military strategy, they inflicted 3 to 1 losses on the Allies. When China employs the same classical military strategy, Western experts claim the opposite. Only an idiot would believe such claims.

In the following video, we see the classic military strategy of softening your enemy's defenses with barrages from Chinese artillery. Afterwards, the PLA overran the Vietnamese military position.

China - Vietnam War 1979 ( Battle of Cao Bang) - YouTube

Remember, the PLA from 1979 was pretty weak after the end of the cultural revolution, it was a thermonuclear power, but its conventional power got stagnated since the cultural revolution.

The modern PLA is absolutely a different case from the PLA of 1979.

Vietnam shouldn't repeat story of Georgia with them, they should understand that the support on which they relaxed their muscles with China will not go after them in any possible crutial situation so Vietnam should leave stupid behaviour and on other hand China has to convince Vietnam over extenal fake support only to destabalize regional peace and security.

Bilateral negotiations to solve current issues should be encouraged.

It is incredible to me that some people believe the myth of larger Chinese casualties during the Sino-Vietnam War of 1979.

During the Sino-Indian War of 1962, there were 722 Chinese killed and 1,383 Indian soldiers killed. This is expected. China had moved its heavy artillery from the Taiwan sector and unloaded the firepower on the Indian defensive positions.

Unfortunately, due to the mountainous geography, China could not use tanks. Otherwise, instead of a 2 to 1 advantage in inflicted losses, the Chinese advantage would have been higher.

When Germans had localized superiority in firepower during WWI, they inflicted 3 to 1 losses on their adversaries.

In 1962, China had superior firepower with heavy artillery and inflicted 2 to 1 losses on the Indian Army.

In 1979, China had superior firepower with tanks, rocket barrages, and heavy artillery against the Vietnamese Army.

Yet, there are propaganda writers who claim China suffered heavier losses than the Vietnamese. This would be one of the strangest military anomalies ever. The side with the longer-range and bigger guns incurred more deaths? Absolutely preposterous.

Shooting an unarmed fishing vessel= Act of cowardliness

Watch the video. Those were Vietnamese marines carrying semi-automatic or automatic guns. They were not unarmed.

In the video, the Vietnamese marines grouped themselves into three platoons behind three Vietnamese flags. Moving forward in battle formation, the Vietnamese troops advanced on the Chinese warships. The Vietnamese marines opened fire on the Chinese motorboat and the PLA Navy responded in kind.

It is really silly how you believe all the CCP nonsense with so much reverence thinking that PLA is some invincible force of superhumans that cannot be defeated or trashed. The US of that time with so much firepower and technology suffered so badly. What makes you think you could do better? :P

Once again reducing a couple of hundred casualties doesn't do any good, I tell you. Does it account for the Chinese that were stranded and taken out in ambush assaults or only artillery fire? I doubt it. There was more to it than artillery barrage, though it played a critical role I will not deny.

It is a regret we didn't use the IAF otherwise your artillery would have been trashed and you'd have been cut off of all the vital supplies leaving you to the ground forces for dinner.

You just were lucky enough to capitalize on Nehru's idiocy and pacifist treachery.

No one said that you suffered more than Vietnamese in numbers. It is just that your exaggeration of such minimal quantities of troops suffering is almost astonishing. You guys really know to give bloated numbers.

For the same reason, PLA has killed some 100,000 civilians who were in fact the militia troops dressed up as the civilians.

Those Viets used this advantage to shoot many young PLA soldiers on the back who were trying to help them as civilians.

But the News heading says it was a fishing boat.

It said ARMED fishing boat. The Vietnamese navy used armed fishing boats, because those were the only transport vessels that were available to them as assault ships.

Vietnam's cost of war -causalities, reward -control over her territories
PRC's cost of war -causalities, reward -cost incurred for the cause.

Just have the guts to fire at unarmed fishing boat, nothing news :coffee:

That's right, it is just nothing.

From now, we will open fire at any Vietnamese fishing boat who dares to venture into our territorial water, so let's see what you can do here. :coffee:

Which video are you talking about the post #1 says nothing like an ARMED fishing boat.

Read the description by the uploader.

In post #1, no one was hurt.

Here is a Chinese video source of 400 Vietnamese soldiers dead in battle and 1 injured PLA marine. China's superior and overwhelming firepower demolished the Vietnamese military with impunity. Chinese estimates of the Sino-Vietnam war casualties are the closest to the truth. This video proves it.

On the high seas, the PLAN frigates used their 37mm and 100mm main guns to pound the Vietnamese. On land, the PLA used tanks and howitzers to annihilate any concentration of Vietnamese troops. The Vietnamese were no match for Chinese firepower (see video below).
