What's new

Bangladesh accuses Economist magazine of smear campaign.

lol what kind of proof do our indian friends expect from a magazine? if they were fbi or something we i would understand. And as other posters have mentioned The Economist is not some run of the mill magazine, it is a very well respected one. And even if all these things are not enough, many eminent lawyers including Kamal Hossain have openly criticized the government in an embarrassing manner.

Your country is in a total mess, if one goes by the threads out here.

Anything goes out there!

You guys wanna kick the AL out we wanna kick the Congress out. You guys wanna bring in the BNP we wanna bring in the BJP [Both far right nationalist party]. Let's do it and after this you guys won't have worry about India's meddling in Bangladesh.

Because BJP will cut all the free loans given by this stupid government to such a ungrateful nation. (Y)

We dont want BNP in. We recognize that both AL and BNP are bad in their own way, we want some one new in politics who is an educated and capable person.

But if a common Bangladeshi had to choose from AL and BNP who would they choose? Who is less of an evil?

Most of the leaders of BNP and AL barely have a high school education. Yeah, that speaks a lot.

Well since the 90's its been BNP-AL-BNP-AL. What happens is one party is elected and then people realize its not working and they get pissed off and then they vote for the other party and the same cycle continues. But i ll say this much AL has done one hell of a job in making people hate them this time, its just been halfway through their term and people are overwhelmingly pissed off at them.

'"Our attention has been drawn to an article on India and Bangladesh, “Embraceable you”, published in The Economist in its issue dated July 30th. We are disappointed, as the report is less than well researched and contains elements of misinformation and a misrepresentation of facts. What is more unfortunate is that the writer uses some words and sometimes draws analogies which lack decency and professional ethics. We are furnishing relevant information to put the issues in the right perspective.

The writer is of the view that the ruling Awami League (and its allies) came to power through “bags of Indian cash and advice”. This is a blatant lie and aptly speaks about the writer’s utter disrespect for responsible journalism.'

What's a free loan? Are you an idiot?
Educational Material: Borrowing money is a business transaction. Money here is the commodity and interest is the profit. A lower interest makes the loan "cheaper and more competitive". But then again we don't want loan (it's not like we voted AL to power to get loan from india) and hopefully BJP would understand this.
