Baktar Shikan in action

There was an opportunity of a second attempt to hit it but restraint was seen.
šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø. Unless they did not intend to take it our completely with the first strike, restraint doesn't make sense. Only reason can be to save a missile but it's worth the cost to finish of the tank and the crew, no?

The incredible think was that the Baktar Sikhan,if I'm not mistaken, penetrated the frontal armor of the M-84 tank in Bosnia. And that was very tough at the time, because the M-84 pretty good armor for a T-72 copy. It was the Yugoslavian version.

Again,if I remember correctly and it did manage to penetrate the frontal armor.

Weak. T-55 is an old Tank and missile still failed to get mobility or crew kill. 50 year old Tank is still functional.

Ya, restrain thing donā€™t make sense. May be they were expecting ammo catch to caught fire or something.

The missile clearly hit the side of the rounded hull from top down, and exploded on the ground next to the tank. Clearly can see grass and stuff burning as it reverses and moves to reposition. Lucky break for the crew

Missile exploded on impact. Thatā€™s how they are design to work even against slant surface. Fire most likely from external fuel barrels usually stored on tank fenders.

The driver is alive but the Gunner and Commander were most likely toast along with the gun. I wouldn't call that functional. Also in this case it doesn't matter if the tank is 50 year old or a T-72 or a T-90S. The post penetration effect would still be the same in all three.

The position could have been compromised so shoot and scoot tactic.

LOC has become a testing ground for weaponry. Better to test results in peace time rather than getting surprised during war. This video is old so improvementā€™s might have occurred.

In any case, TOWs and kornetā€™s 152mm calibre is higher than 120mm of BS.

Range to target and variant of BS ?

Medium range, basic variant. Moreover, the video was not full. There were multiple hits scored on this tank later, then a white flag was raised from Indian side, then this tank was towed away by an ARV. Of course, Indians got the joke.

The newer deployments are of T-90 now ?

Looks like the missile just ricocheted off of the side of the hull due to the angle of attack and besides rattle nerves there seems to be no significant damage at all. There aren't any note worthy optics in that ancient tank to speak of.
Now if Baktar Shikan was a top attack ATGM, it would have been a different story.

That bharti tank crew is going to need an aspirin after that to say the least.

That tank crew living will tell the horrors of shell shock and that our side has the area locked down with baktar shikans.

Bharti armor morale be like this:
