Argentina Air Force officials have been interested in the Kfir for several years, but it was at the 2013 Paris Air Show that delegates met officials of Chengdu Aircraft Corp. and the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, the Chinese-Pakistani partnership that produces the JF-17 fighter jet, the sources said.

The Chinese-built machines were of interest to Argentina because of their relatively low cost and the possibility of being locally assembled at the Fabrica Argentina de Aviones, the former FMA industrial plant at Cordoba.

Using Chinese-supplied components at the beginning, the local assembly offered the possibility of locally manufactured parts at a later stage, opening the way to licensed production and even the development of a version specially tailored to Argentina’s requirements.

Negotiations for the acquisition and assembly of the JF-17 in Argentina started soon but the increasing demands by Argentina for Western avionics and modifications increased the cost of the aircraft.

The integration work needed to accommodate the new avionics also delayed the process and in May 2015, after almost two years of negotiations, the Argentine authorities discarded the JF-17

its their Loss,
Local Assembly would have been a very attractive option,
and the Source is reliable.
Guess it'll take time for JF 17 to break into South America.

Probably China doesn't want to upset UK's tiny Falkland island to send anti-ship missiles to Argentina or some more western components.

Kfirs that to second hand over JF-17 that tells a lot about Argentina and How serious it is on its defence

They wanted something more potent like the J10's but could not afford it, hence they were interested in JF-17's unfortunately they could not afford the JF-17 B and also the limitation of French engine and no anti ship missile also played a part. The kfir block60 saves them training time and would have some where around 4000-5000 hrs of life.

What could be the cost of second hand Kfir as compared to a brand new JF-17 ?

I think which ever option they choose. They have to pay more than what with thunder for same work its stupid

Isn't kfir block 60 comes with an aesa radar?.

Plus israeli warfare electronics are one of the best if they come with it.

Also their is an Israeli as missile that may also comes with it so it's a whole package may be.

What I'm sure about is that jf-17 is a lethal piece of craft except that it is chinese people still look at chinese product as low cheap one wrong idea but still hovering.

Well! they are the customer, and customer is a king of its choice..
